Before the release ofMonster Hunter Worldin the west back in 2018, many people would consider Capcom’s action-RPG series to be niche compared to the company’s other juggernaut properties likeResident Evil. Not only are the games pretty complex and deep for new players, but they also take up dozens upon dozens of hours to fully complete, with most hardcore players spending hundreds of hours on each entry.Monster Hunter Riseis the latest title however and players are wondering justhow long it takes to beat the story.
Typically,Monster Huntergames will have the main “story” to follow, which usually involves fighting almost every large monster in the game and watching the narrative play out with dialogue and cutscenes. And of course, once that’s finished, players will have access to a multitude of other quests that can be completed in multiplayer and there will be DLC monsters to fight against as well since the game will be gettingfree title updates post-launch.

For the players out there that aren’t interesting in grinding and farming for the best gear out there, it’s been confirmed that the main story ofMonster Hunter Risecan be completed at around 20-30 hours, depending on player skill and how often players complete other tasks. The information was revealed in an exclusive interview with well-knownMonster HunterYouTuber, Arrekz, and Capcom’s Ryozo Tsujimoto and Yasunori Ichinose.
Even though the main campaign can be completed in only 20 or so hours, there will still be plenty of content for fans to sink their teeth into. While there are no G or Master rank quests inRise, there are other quests separate from the story to complete and there’s also thebrand-new Rampage modewhich will have exclusive rewards that cannot be found in the normal hunts. And as mentioned previously, the game will get multiple free updates to bring players back into the Switch game.
For new players, they should keep in mind that hunting down the same monsters over and over again is a major component of theMonster Hunterseries. In order to craft stronger gear to deal with high-level quests, players will need to find very specific parts of a monster and other items, which can take a lot of time if RNG is not in the player’s favor. Luckily, Capcom is making some changes withRise, andarmor sets/weapons won’t be as difficult to obtainas they were inMonster Hunter: WorldandIceborne.
Monster Hunter Risewill release for the Nintendo Switch on March 26 and a PC port is expected in early 2022.
