With over 40 side, secondary, and miscellaneous quests,Fallout 76can become an ever-lasting grind. That’s not the main issue here though. For many players, specific side quests become roadblocks, preventing them from advancing the main story.

That’s when they look for the “abandon” button. What they want is a way to cancel specific missions and start others. Luckily,Fallout 76has an option for that, with the game allowing players to cancel side quests fast and easily with no real consequences.
How to Abandon a Quest in Fallout 76
To cancel quests, players should press the Menu button, go to the Journal, hover over the unwanted mission, and select “Abandon the Quest.” The cancelation button is in the quest options, which can be seen by pressing the Y button on Xbox or Triangle on PlayStation.
It’s important to note that there’s no way to abandon the main quests inFallout 76. The method only works for side missions and miscellaneous tasks that do not affect the story.

To restart an abandoned quest, players simply need to repeat the process that first initiated it. Ifan NPC offered the quest, players should talk to them again. If the task popped up at a specific location, they’ll need to revisit the area.
Abandoning side quests inFallout 76won’t allow save-scumming. Once a mission is canceled, its entire progress is removed and must be repeated to earn the rewards.

How to See All Active Quests in Fallout 76
Pip-Boy shows current main and side quests. Players just need to press the B button (Circle on PlayStation) to open Pip-Boy, then open the Data tab, and scroll to the Main or Side menu. Clicking on missions in these sections removes them from the game’s HUD. However, that doesn’t mean they’ve been abandoned.
How to Solve the Quest Progression Bugs in Fallout 76
Severalpatches inFallout 76have caused quest line issues that stop players’ progression. One solution to such a problem is abandoning bugged or glitched missions. This fix is not available for main quests, but it can resolve any side or secondary task issues.
If abandoning the quest doesn’t work, players shouldsave the game, log out of the server, give the game 15 minutes, and then log back in. Doing so will change the world and reset the glitching mission without erasing any data.
