This first came to light in a promotional video for an episode of theBroken Skull Sessions, which is basically a live-action version of Stone Cold’s podcast where he interviews various guests. To help promote new episodes, Stone Cold often hosts a segment where he asks his guest rapid-fire questions, which is exactly what he did when interviewing Cody Rhodes. One of the questions Austin asked Rhodes was what he thinks the bestZeldagame is, to which Rhodes answeredOcarina of Time. Austin fired back by insisting thatBreath of the Wildwas actually the bestZeldagame.

Now WWE has released behind-the-scenes photos ofBroken Skull Sessions, showing Austin with some of the guests he’s featured on the program in the past year. One of the photos shows Austin playingThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildon the screen that’s typically used to showcase wrestling matches and photos, complete withSwitch Joy-Cons.
Austin is one of the most popular WWE superstars of all time, if notthemost popular. He is best known for his work during the Attitude Era, where he served as WWF Champion and had high profile feuds with the likes of Mick Foley, The Rock, and The Undertaker. Nagging injuries saw Austin retire from in-ring competition in the early 2000s, but he made his shocking return to WWE atWrestleMania 38earlier this year.
At WrestleMania, Austin competed in his first match in decades, facing off against Kevin Owens. Their brawl was well-received, with many impressed by Austin’s performance after having been away from the ring so long. Austin reappeared on the second night of WrestleMania, delivering Stone Cold Stunners to the likes of Austin Theory, Pat McAfee, andarchenemy Mr. McMahon.
Now that Austin’s love forBreath of the Wildhas been made public knowledge, it will be interesting to see if he shares his opinion about the upcoming sequel.The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildsequelis expected to drop at some point in 2023, though an official release date has not been announced at the time of this writing.
