Summary
While some have predicted a 2024 release date forGrand Theft Auto 6, it seems that the highly-anticipated open world game may very well slip to spring 2025. It’s been over a decade sinceGrand Theft Auto 5’s release, and so fans have had to wait an incredibly long time forGTA 6. Unfortunately forGTAfans, official updates onGrand Theft Auto 6have been few and far between.
Rockstar Games has confirmedGrand Theft Auto 6is in development, but hasn’t revealed anything else about the project. A massive leak has revealed other details that will potentially be featured in the final product, like the game being set in Vice City and one of the protagonists being female, but Rockstar itself hasn’t confirmed any of those details. Unfortunately for fans who have been waiting for more info from Rockstar itself, the company has yet to drop aGTA 6teaser or trailer.

According to Rockstar Games insider Tez2 on the GTA Forums, “several devs” believe that theGrand Theft Auto 6release window will be spring 2025. However, Tez2 pointed out that Rockstar had spring release windows in mind for bothGrand Theft Auto 5andRed Dead Redemption 2back in the day before ultimately pushing both of those back. As far as when a proper reveal forGTA 6may take place, Tez2 said, “I predict an announcement coinciding with the celebration of Rockstar’s anniversary somewhere between late Nov and early Dec. And if not that, then a Feb announcement.”
Grand Theft Auto 6 Reveal and Release Date Predictions
The spring 2025 release window would fit within the previously-teased April 2024 - March 2025GTA 6release window, though just barely. Regardless, it sounds likeGrand Theft Autofans shouldn’t hold their breath for the game to release in 2024, and that the more likely scenario is that it will drop in 2025. Whether that’s spring 2025 or fall 2025 remains to be seen, however.
Even ifGrand Theft Auto 6is that far off, fans may still be able to expect aGTA 6revealto happen soon. Rockstar’s previous games received trailers well in advance of their release dates, and history could repeat itself here. The Rockstar anniversary Tez2 is referring to in their post is the anniversary of the company’s formation in December 1998. The Game Awards happens to take place in December, and while that would normally be a great place to announce a new game, fans shouldn’t tune in expecting to see Rockstar’s next big title. Rockstar tends to do its own thing with announcements, so while it’s certainly possibleGrand Theft Auto 6will get its reveal trailer at The Game Awards, the more likely possibility is that it will drop independent of any big gaming industry events.
