John Cena is best known for his time in WWE, where he became a 16-time world champion and held the WWE Championship more times than any superstar in history. While he still makes WWE appearances from time to time, recent years have seen Cena focus on work outside the wrestling business, starring in thehit HBO Max showPeacemakerand earning rave reviews for his performance. Now it seems Cena may be making the jump to video games, if a recent post on his Instagram is anything to go by.
John Cena’s Instagram page is a weird collection of images, posted “without explanation.” The latest image John Cena added to Instagram appears to be ofFortnitepromotional art showing the two sides of the game world. Cena could’ve added the image simply because he liked it, but it’s also possible that this is his way of teasing his debut in theFortnitebattle royale at some point in the near future.

If John Cena does joinFortnite, the question remains how he will appear in the game. One possibility is that Cena will be inFortniteas himself, but it’s also possible that he will be playing a character in the game. If so, Cena would be following in the footsteps of fellow WWE alumni The Rock,who appears inFortniteas The Foundation.
Another possibility is that Cena will be debuting inFortnitein-character as Peacemaker.Peacemaker is a DC comics characterand there is a precedent for DC comics superheroes to appear in the game. In the past this has included characters like Batman, Harley Quinn, Superman, and many more, and considering Peacemaker’s popularity, he seems like he would be an obvious pick forFortnite.
Some may say that Peacemaker as depicted in the HBO Max show is too violent and inappropriate to be featured in a game that’s primarily aimed at children, but he wouldn’t be the first adult-oriented character to appear in the game. Notoriously raunchy comic book character Deadpool is inFortnite, not to mention the incredibly violentKratos ofGod of Warfame. Characters from other adult TV shows have also appeared in the game, including characters fromThe Walking Dead.
IfJohn Cenais coming toFortnite, as Peacemaker or whoever else, fans should find out relatively soon. However, John Cena fans should keep their expectations in check as it’s possible that this image isn’t indicative of any future plans for the game.
