Summary
Jujutsu Kaisenhas seen the current story arc being embroiled ina massive fight between Gojo Satoru and Sukuna.These two characters have been fighting each other for quite a long time now. Their fight was always set up to be the greatest in the entire series and fans were incredibly excited to see it finally kickstart once it did.

It is safe to say that, over the course of the last dozen chapters or so, this fight has lived up to all expectations and even surpassed them in many ways. The fight has been dynamic, full of action that is incredibly intense, and, most importantly, fun for the fans to witness. However, at the end of it, the readers were left in a state of shock when one of the most beloved characters in the series, Gojo, ended up dying. Fans know him to be an extremely powerful character, who has also been called the strongest sorcerer of modern times on many occasions yet, eventually, he fell to Sukuna.
Gojo Vs Sukuna
The fight between Gojo and Sukuna has certainly been enthralling. From the very beginning, it was clear that these two characters were almost evenly matched. The start of the battle just saw these two characters test out their abilities against one another to gauge the prowess of the other. It is safe to say that Gojo did more than just hold his own against the strongest of all time and also pushed him to the extreme. That certainly wasn’t all, as Gojo also managed to overwhelm him in combat on more than one occasion. Their Domain Expansions were evenly matched for the most part, however, Gojo did see his Domain break on several occasions during the fight.
Meanwhile, Sukuna also had quite a lot of trouble dealing with Gojo. The fact is that he had to rely on Domain Amplification to nullify Gojo’s Infinity and make contact with him. However, at the same time, he could not use his Cursed Technique because doing both things simultaneously would be impossible. This meant that Sukuna had to rely on other methods while fighting and that is why he utilized Mahoraga to the fullest.
The breaking point in this fight between these two characters came when Gojo could not heal using his Reverse Cursed Technique anymore. After overexerting his brain, Gojo certainly struggled quite a bit. However, at the same time, being hit with Unlimited Void for even just 10 seconds was enough to cause brain injuries to Sukuna as well. This took Malevolent Shrine from him and forced him to rely on his Cursed Technique normally.
Gojo’s Hollow Purple
Fans know Sukuna to be an extremely smart fighter. Having Malevolent Shrine being taken away from him as an option during this fight certainly did not slow him down. Instead, he turned the battle into a three-on-one by bringing out Mahoraga and using it to adapt to the Infinity that enveloped Gojo. At the same time, he also brought out Agito, a fusion beast that gave Gojo all sorts of trouble. When the battle moved to a 3-on-1, it became incredibly difficult for Gojo to keep up, however, he still found a way. Using Blue, he absolutely demolished Agito and, later on, he used Red to combine with the Blue and use a remote version of Hollow Purple.
This Hollow Purple ended up being the turning point in the fight between these two characters as, for the very first time, Sukuna feared Gojo. He realized that he could very well lose this fight and started to grow desperate. Meanwhile,Gojo was incredibly strong and resilient, landing one Black Flash after another, however, the moment all the Purple was unleashed, the battle was as good as done, or so the fans thought.

As soon as Gojo launched this incredibly powerful nuke, it was quite clear that Sukuna would be on the ropes. He was injured to a point where he could not use Domain Amplification anymore and, at the same time, his healing ability was greatly compromised. With slow healing, an injured body, and no usage of Domain Amplification, it was quite clear that the victor here would be none other than Gojo Satoru. That is precisely where chapter 235 ofJujutsu Kaisenended, however, chapter 236 delivered a massive shock to the fans that shook them to the very core.
Sukuna’s Counter To Infinity
The beginning ofJujutsu Kaisen236 was rather strange to the fans. The chapter started with Gojo meeting his fellow friends who had already passed away. In a shocking turn of events, he started conversing with Geto and it was revealed to the fans that Gojo had actually lost the battle. This was inexplicable at the time, however, as the chapter progressed, it was revealed that Sukuna ended up being too much for Gojo even though he almost secured the victory. In the real world, Sukuna explained that the reason he used Mahoraga previously was to figure out a counter to Infinity. Mahoraga changed the nature of its Cursed Technique to counter Infinity at first. This was certainly not something that Sukuna could do.
However, later on,when Mahoraga used the technique of Sukunaand sliced through Gojo’s arm, the King of Curses figured out a way to counter the Infinity itself. Simply put, he changed his target from Gojo to the entire world itself including the space in between. Thus, no matter what Gojo had surrounding him, the slash that was set to slice the whole world would also cut through his infinity, and also him.
While this makes sense on the surface, the fact is that, at the end of the day, Gojo still had infinity around him. Cutting through something that is infinite should not theoretically be possible, however, only the author can explain how this actually ended up happening.
Gojo’s Death
Once fans returned to the present, it was revealed that Gojo had lost the battle and, subsequently, died. His entire body was chopped in half. Gojo’s legs were standing but his torso was laying on the ground. His arm was also cut off and it is quite clear that from here onwards, the winner of the battle was Sukuna. When Gojo died, Sukuna mocked him one last time and told him that he would never forget him before laughing in his face. Clearly, this death has shaken the watchers as well as the fans of the series. Killing off Gojo is a very brave step on the part of the author and also quite possibly a very questionable one.
After all, Gojo is the face of the franchise. From here onwards, it remains to be seen how the story progresses. For now, Kashimo has jumped into action, however, he isn’t going to be any significant threat to Sukuna if Gojo was not able to defeat him. Then, at the same time, there is also the question of whether Gojo can return. Of course, there is a possibility for his return in the series and fans do know for a fact that his Reverse Cursed Technique was fully back,thanks to the Black Flashesthat he landed on his opponent. At the same time, there are other users of Reverse Cursed Technique that could help him recover and all that remains to be seen is how his story progresses from here onwards.
