Summary
Jujutsu High’s battle against the King of Curses continues to rage on and somehow, Gege Akutami keeps the hype train rolling by keeping the tensions between chapters very high. Despite many callingJujutsu Kaisenthe ‘Sukuna show’ due to his string of victories over extremely powerful opponents, his current predicament against Yuta and Yuji may have shown him to be in some real trouble.
However, another thing to theorize about is just what Jujutsu High’s plan against Sukuna is. Many things havebeen left very vague and mysteriousthat all seem to hint at something that is about to happen, as some part of the hero’s plan is finally revealed to the fans through Sukuna’s appraisal of Yuji in Chapter 249 of theJujutsu Kaisenmanga. So, let’s take a look at what the heroes may be planning to defeat Sukuna once and for all!
Reclaiming Megumi’s Soul
In Chapter 249, Yuta shows the world why he is a Special Grade Sorcerer. On his very first instance of appearing on the battlefield, he immediately summons Rika to initiate a beatdown of the King of Curses, going on the offensive himself and proceeding to open his Domain Expansion; All-Encompassing, Unequivocal Love. This Domain showed Sukuna to be on the defensive for the first time since his fight against Gojo.
By openingHollow Wicker Basket within the Domain, Sukuna kept himself out of immediate danger for a time. However, Yuta’s Domain is incredibly powerful as it stores seemingly hundreds of Cursed Techniques that he has come across over his career of being a sorcerer, which he plans to use for Yuji to get close enough to Sukuna to fulfill their plan. It is here that the King of Curses reveals to know what they aim to do.
Ever since Yuji was seen sparring with Kusakabe in Chapter 222, he has since grownimmensely powerful Demon Armsthat increase his already powerful physical attributes, as well as gaining a special Cursed Technique. This technique seems to be soul swapping, where he is able to manipulate the location of one’s soul. His role, as of the latest chapter, is to rip Megumi’s soul from Sukuna’s body.
If this is done, and assuming Megumi hasn’t become immobile after tanking the damage of multiple Unlimited Void Domain Expansions, he could prove to be an indispensable ally. If Megumi can retain consciousness and summon Mahoraga to fight against Sukuna, the battle is almost assuredly a win for Jujutsu High, provided Sukuna falls prey to this plan.
A Return Of The Fallen Sorcerers
Despite Gojo, Kashimo, and Higuruma’s deaths at the hands of Sukuna, one thing that stood out to most fans of the series was the lack of time spent on their deaths. Whether it was the panels showing their demise or the characters not mourning them enough, the strongest and most gifted sorcerers, aside from Sukuna himself, were all seen as an afterthought after their defeats.
However, Chapter 248 of the manga reveals the true reason behind this. Since their defeat, the bodies of these sorcerers had seemingly all disappeared, which greatly confused Sukuna. However, it is revealed that Ui Ui and Kirara, sorcerers who both have teleportation abilities, had been going around and collecting the dead bodies, similar to what Yuta did with Takaba’s bodyafter finally killing Kenjaku for good.
If these characters are truly gone, what need is there to risk the lives of young sorcerers to retrieve their bodies? The most popular fan theory regarding this phenomenon is the potential resurrection of these sorcerers to help out even more against the King of Curses and prevent the merger of humanity with Tengen. While very improbable, fans seem to believe that by using Yuta and Shoko’s ability to redirect Reverse Cursed Energy to heal others, somehow the sorcerers will be revived.
Through the usage of a powerful binding vow, and perhaps the sacrifice of one’s own life, maybe asufficient amount of Reverse Cursed Energyis produced to heal others. This plan perplexed even Sukuna, as he could not recall the location of Gojo’s body and came to the conclusion that it was transported. If this somehow does end up working, then Sukuna would then have to face off against the might of Yuji, Yuta, and Rika, who would be backed by all of Jujutsu High, containing the power of the fallen sorcerers.
How Can They Defeat Sukuna?
While Jujutsu High certainly does have ways to defeat Sukuna, it should be remembered why he is known as the King of Curses in the first place. Sukuna’s power is legendary, enough to kill the strongest sorcerer of the modern age without even using his full strength and, coupled with the fact that he has a host of abilities that eventhe fans don’t yet know about, Sukuna is more of a candidate than anyone else to end up winning the final battle.
As of yet, fans of the series can only hope that the sorcerers can end up fulfilling their plans and defeat Sukuna, as the aforementioned theories seem more probable than anything else that they can whip up. By somehow resurrecting their strongest allies in a last-ditch attempt to overpower Sukuna, everyone included within Jujutsu High may stand a chance against him.
Sukuna is a walking calamity that has stood the test of time bycontinuing to be the strongest sorcererover a thousand years. The key to defeating him may lie with Yuji and his soul-swapping Cursed Technique, though, it would still require a great amount of luck to pull off, even with the rest of the team of sorcerers providing a distraction. Fans can only sit and wait for the conclusion of the franchise to see what Gege has cooked up for the finale!
