Who Are the Uncrowned Kings?
There was one generation of five players higher than the Generation of Miracles, who could have been a part of them. If they were in the right place at the right time, they could even be considered the “Generation of Miracles” collectively. This group consists of Serin High’s Teppei Kiyoshi, Kirisaki Daīchi High’s Makoto Hanamiya and Rakuzan High’s Reo Mibuchi, Kotarō Hayama and Eikichi Nebuya.
Teppei Kiyoshi
Kiyoshi isSeirin High’s center and founder of the basketball club, who appeared later in the anime. He was hospitalized for an injury sustained during a game, but came back stronger than ever. Kiyoshi is described as the “most honest man in basketball”. He has a genuine love of basketball and his teammates, urging them to just “have fun” on the court. Captain Hyūga said that Kiyoshi is an “oddball centre”, in that he has the pass sense of a point guard and can dribble and shoot. He is a well-rounded player who has earned the nickname “Iron Heart”.
In addition to Kiyoshi being thetallest playeron Seirin, he also has abnormally large hands. This gives effect to his signature Right of Postponement ability. He holds the basketball like a handball in his large hands, which allows him to change his choices at the timing players would normally release the ball. It is meaningless to predict Kiyoshi’s moves, because he can change his hands after looking at others. He also performs the “Vice Claw”, which is a defensive maneuver where he grabs an airborne ball with one hand.

Makoto Hanamiya
Kirisaki Daīchi High’s number 4 player, coach and captain is Makoto Hanamiya. He is the polar opposite of Kiyoshi; where Kiyoshi is the most honest basketball player, Hanamiya is the most dishonest. Gifted with an IQ of 160, Hanamiya uses his genius to craft plays that destroy his opponents. Hanamiya also orchestrated Kiyoshi’s injury, causing hospitalization. He iscunning, sadistic and cruel.
Hanamiya possesses the ability to read his opponents' attack patterns and steal balls. This has been his specialty for years. When he’s playing with Kirisaki Daīchi’s center Kentarō Seto, he becomes a different kind of force. Seto is the only one on the team that can keep up with Hanamiya’s predictions. Alone, there are certain passes he can’t follow. With the inclusion of Seto, however, he can steal every single pass with 100% accuracy. He traps his opponents in a figurativespider’s web.

Reo Mibuchi
Three out of five members of the Uncrowned Kings are part of the Rakuzan High basketball team, under the captaincy ofSeijūrō Akashi, the former captain of the Generation of Miracles. Mibuchi is Rakuzan’s vice captain and shooter guard, who goes by the nickname “Yaksha” (a Buddhist nature fairy). He is uptight and high strung, yet respectful of his peers.

Mibuchi is a master of various shooting forms. He is able to perform notoriously difficult shots that should be near impossible to do. His two main ways of shooting are away from the opponent, and confronting him. Mibuchi is able to transmit power from his body into the ball without losing any. His main three forms of shooting areHeaven, Earth and Void. Heaven is Mibuchi’s fadeaway three-pointer, Earth is where he has contact with an opposing player and shoots causing a shot or foul, and Void is a shot he lands without letting his opponent do anything.
Kotarō Hayama
Rakuzan’s Small Forward is Kotarō Hayama, the “Lightning Beast”. Hayama is just as energetic as he is competitive. His jovial and childish manner is not be overlooked, as he absolutely hates to lose.
Hayama’s main ability is his thunderous Lightning Dribble, which literally shakes the ground and hurts eardrums. Like its name, this skill allows Hayama to dribble the ball atlightningspeed. The ball seemingly disappears into thin air. Absolutely nothing gets past Hayama’s speed and agility.

Eikichi Nebuya
Nebuya is Rakuzan’s Center. His muscular build and hulking size earns him the nickname “Herculean Strength”. Nebuya believes in strength above all else; the stronger you are and the more muscles you have, the better. His gluttonous binge-eating before a game make him stronger on the court.
Power is everything to Nebuya. He does not have specific skills like the rest of the Uncrowned Kings, but what he does have israw power. He injects this strength into every move he makes on the court. In fact, all his moves are centered around his muscles, like “Muscle Rebound” and “Muscle Dunk”. There are no gimicks and gags to Nebuya; to him, basketball is all about pure muscle power.
