LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagahas been a long time coming, but its release date is finally in sight. Warner Bros. Interactive has released a stunning new gameplay overview trailer forLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagathat not only shows off everything players will get to do in the new game, but also confirms exactly when they’ll be able to get their hands on it for themselves.
First and foremost, theLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagarelease date is Tuesday, April 5 across all platforms. When that day rolls around,LEGO Star Warsfanswill be able to jump in and pick which trilogy they want to start with, choosing betweenEpisode 1: The Phantom Menace,Episode 4: A New Hope, andEpisode 7: The Force Awakens. They’ll then be set loose in classicLEGO Star Warslevels, fighting enemies, smashing objects, and collecting studs.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagacombat is a big focus in the new gameplay overview trailer. Fans can see howLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagaincorporates new combos, counter-attacks, and camera angles to make the combat much more cinematic than it has been in previous games. Blasters in particular seem to have gotten an upgrade, with players able to take advantage of an over-the-shoulder camera and cover system. Players can also freely aim where they want to fire their blaster, with enemies reacting naturally to where they’re hit.
When playing as a Jedi or another Force user,LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagaplayers will also have access to lightsabers as well as Force powers. Some of the Force powers on display include lifting objects, throwing things at enemies, and even usingJedi mind tricks.
After players are done shooting enemies with blasters and tossing them around with Force powers, they can take to space to head to their next destination.LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagahas spaceship combat and exploration, with players unlocking new planets that they can freely travel to as they complete levels. Players can ignore the story missions and thoroughly explore these planets, which they’ll want to do if they want to find hidden paths, side missions, mini-games, and more.
In typicalLEGOgame fashion,LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagawill have a ton of content to unlock, with over 300 characters, upgrade abilities for each class, and cheat codes that players can purchase using the various currencies in the game. There’s even a “Mumble Mode” that players can unlock to make theLEGO Star Warscharacterssound like they did in the originalLEGO Star Warsgames.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagaseems to be a love letter not just toStar Wars, but theLEGOvideo game franchisein general. Fans will find out if it lives up to the hype when it launches in a couple months time.
