To many,Minecraftis more than a mainstream release that continues to entertain millions. It forms part of their upbringing. WithMojang recently launching version 1.19of its open world sandbox game, the studio is keen to keep it in good stead with the community, despite it being well over a decade old at this point. The reason why it’s still so popular is the sheer number of things that can be created. The fan base is simply bubbling over with talent, much of which demonstrates the power of the game’s Redstone element.
Recently, Reddit user CaptainShivy617 showed off such prowess by creating their own version of the classic gameYahtzeewithinMinecraft. A brief video shows the game in action, with the player hitting a button to begin a round. Just like in the original, it involves rolling dice, only in this instance, they’re displayed digitally. After a few attempts, CaptainShivy617 is able to get a full “Yahtzee!” which is displayed on screens. The clip ends with them showing the back of their recreation, giving some idea of the complex work that’s gone into the project.

For those who’ve never played it,Yahtzeeis a beloved dice game that started out in the 1950s. Players must roll a series of dice to score points, which can be rolled up to three times during each turn. In order to achieve a “Yahtzee,” which is worth 50 points, the player must get five of the same numbers in a row. Seeing it being translated to the digital world shows that it’s still something that fans enjoy even to this day.
Redstone inMinecraftcan be used to make all sorts of contraptions, no matter how simple or complex. Players have been able to make some really interesting things with it, such as a vending machine, an alarm clock, and even an X-ray machine. There’s even been people who have done entire games, such as recreations of classics likePac-ManandTetris.
It’s for this reason thatMinecrafthas such longevity. Not only is it an unbelievably huge game with so much to explore, but it affords players the opportunity to build whatever comes to their imagination. That in itself means it has near-infinite replay value, but the inclusion of Redstone early on means that there is so much more potential for fans to unlock, and it will be interesting to see what people will come up with next.
