Signs, as players know them, have been inMinecraftsince at least 2010, but not until the Trails and Tales update could players craft hanging signs to adorn their worlds with. While it may not seem like a big deal to some, theaddition of Hanging Signs has been long awaited by manyin the community, as they invoke a totally different feeling than their standard counterparts. Players may be excited to try Hanging Signs for themselves, but they’ll need to figure out the recipe first.

One part of the recipe, in particular, is peculiar and differs in an important way from the standard Sign crafting recipe. Hanging Signs work in much the same way as regular Signs inMinecraft,with the major difference being the way they are placed and their appearance. Players wanting to use this feature will need to make sure they have the newest update, Trails, and Tales, installed and ready to go.

Minecraft: How to Craft Hanging Signs

Despite having basically the same function, Hanging Signs are more difficult to craft than regular Signs. Players will need the following ingredients arranged in the order shown above:

It’s important to note that all 6 pieces of logs/stems must be of thesame type ofMinecraftwoodand all must be stripped. Players can simply place down the logs/stems they want to use and then use the Axe to strip them before picking them back up again and crafting the Hanging Sign.

Once crafted, Hanging Signs can be placed either on the side of a block or on the bottom of a block. Players can edit the text on both sides of the Hanging Sign by right clicking (LT, L2) that side of the Hanging Sign. Just like regular Signs, Hanging Signs can bemodified with Glow Ink Sacsto make the text glow or with Dye to change the color of the text.

Players should experiement with Hanging Signs as another way to label things or add more context to the world they are building. They look great in Villages and outside of certainVillage buildings like the Blacksmith. The applications are only limited by the player’s own creativity.
