The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S released earlier this week, andMortal Kombatfans have been waiting to experience the gory fighting game on next-gen consoles.Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimatereleases today along with Kombat Pack 2, which features classic characters Mileena and Rain, and also bringsiconic movie character Ramboto the roster.
Along with the release ofMortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, NetherRealm is now offering a free upgrade to the next-gen version ofUltimatefor owners of the PS4 and Xbox One versions ofMortal Kombat 11. The officialMortal Kombatwebsite lists free upgrades forMK11and Kombat Pack 2 through both the Microsoft and PlayStation stores. However, players will still have to purchase any DLC if they do not own it yet.

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimatewill add visual improvements, 4K dynamic resolution, substantially lower load times, and will supportcross-play and cross-gengameplay. Players will be able to see every bloody detail, and will get to experience playing as fan-favorite Mileena in 4K resolution, a big step up from when she was originally introduced in 1993 as a part of theMortal Kombat 2roster.
Players do not need to be worried about losing all of their progress or character customization.Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimatealso supports cross-save, so all progress will carry over to the next-gen consoles. For players who do not own the title currently,Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimateon next-gen consoles is available for $60 USD and includes all previous DLCs and the Aftermath Expansion. However, the PS4 version ofMK 11 Ultimatewill not have physical copies available until January 2021, the Nintendo Switch version is only available digitally in the Americas, and the Stadia version will only be available digitally worldwide.
Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimatealso comes with all premium skins and skin packs that were included in Kombat Pack 1 and theAftermath expansion. There is a European-exclusive Kollectors Edition that also releases today and features a life-size Sub-Zero mask statue, a steel game case, aMortal Kombatlogo magnet, and an exclusive in-game Avalanche Sub-Zero skin.
With the release ofMortal Kombat 11 Ultimateon next-gen consoles and rumors of athird Kombat Pack, it seems support for the title is not slowing down anytime soon. Many fans may be wondering about the possibility of anInjustice 3or a newMortal Kombat, but with the release of the next-gen upgrade, it appears any new title announcements may be far away.
