Summary
MultiVersusmade a pretty big impact upon its initial launch back in July 2022 thanks to some pretty great fighting mechanics, and a really impressive roster packed with huge-name fighters from across the Warner Bros. connected universe. But, unfortunately, over the next few months, fans started to lose interest, thanks in no small part to some pretty egregious microtransactions and the grind required to actually unlock most of its roster. ButMultiVersuswas still technically in Beta that whole time, and in June of this year, it was shut down, with the plan now being to release the game fully in early 2024.
It seems pretty logical to expect a number of additions and changes whenMultiVersusmakes its return early next year, though it’s currently unclear just what those changes might be. Fans are hoping for fewer live-service elements and microtransactions, though that might be a little unlikely. Fans are also expecting to see some more fleshed-out combat mechanics, and most importantly, some brand-new fighters and some themed stages to go along with them. WhileMultiVersus' Beta rosterwas pretty good, there were still a number of big omissions, and its full release could rectify that.

MultiVersus Wish List - The Rest of Mystery Inc.
One of the biggest contributing factors toMultiVersus' early success was its willingness to embrace some of the most iconic memes surrounding its chosen fighters, and nowhere was that more true than with Shaggy fromScooby-Doo. Leaning all the way into theShaggy Ultra-Instinct meme,MultiVersusgives the classic character a range of powerful superhero abilities. While the rest of the Mystery Inc. gang doesn’t share the same level of meme recognition, they all still deserve a spot on theMultiVersusroster at some point, with Fred, Daphne, and Scooby himself still not being included.
MultiVersus Wish List - The Rest of the Justice League
Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman are all currently present onMultiVersus' roster, but there are countless other DC superheroes that deserve to make the final cut, a few of which also belong to the Justice League. The Flash, Green Lantern, Cyborg, Aquaman, and even Martian Manhunter would all make for greatMultiVersusfighters, along with the vast majority of the entireDC comics universe.
MultiVersus Wish List - Scorpion and Sub-Zero
A crossover that’s been rumored since before the game even came out, at least oneMortal Kombatcharacter should come toMultiVersuswhen it launches again next year. While Scorpion has been the rumored addition for a while now, Sub-Zero would also make for a greatMultiVersusfighter. Though they’re both used to the fighting game scene, it’d be interesting to see how Scorpion and Sub-Zero’s unique movesets get translated to a different type of fighting game.
MultiVersus Wish List - The Powerpuff Girls
Another set of characters that have been leaked for a while now but should absolutely come to the game is the Powerpuff Girls. A staple of almostevery era of Cartoon Network, the Powerpuff Girls have had a few different iterations over the years, and they’d suitMultiVersus' bright and cartoony art style perfectly. If the leaks from long ago turn out to be true, then the Powerpuff Girls might appear as three different skins for one fighter, which seems like the best move as opposed to taking up three separate spots on the roster.
MultiVersus Wish List - Harry Potter
Though the series' creator is still using her online platform to promote hateful rhetoric, and the last fewFantastic Beastsmovies haven’t been a success,Harry Pottercontinues to be an incredibly popular franchise, andHogwarts Legacy’s sales exemplify that. A smart business move and a bit of fan service at the same time, it would only make sense for someHarry Pottercharacters to come toMultiVersusin the near future.
