WhileDestiny 2is in the middle of a funk when it comes to engaging a lot of its player base, most are in agreement that something big is coming. What exactly that “something big” might be is up for debate -Luke Smith saysplayers are not prepared - but a detail that players noticed in-game may offer some clues.
AsDestiny 2players were poking around in the game, they noticed that the emblem tied to the Titan destination has the timer icon. Bungie introduced this timer icon to let players know that an item will eventually leaveDestiny 2, either in the next Season or when an event concludes.

What’s unique about this Titan emblem, though, is that it previously never had a timer. So, the community is now running wild with theories as to why that might be, even moreso after Bungie secretly removed the timer.
Destiny 2 Will Destroy Titan
The most popular theory amongDestiny 2players (those willing to indulge in potential spoilers) is that Titan is getting destroyed. How exactly that may occur is its own separate debate, but Titan’s destruction makes sense for why the emblem might disappear. Without Titan, there is nowhere to collect the emblem.
Currently, inDestiny 2thepyramid ships are advancing toward Earth, the Traveler, and the Tower, and a map inside the Seraph Bunkers is tracking their progress. It could be that once the ships get near Titan, they decide to demonstrate their strength, or perhaps some conflict takes place in the New Pacific Archology that leads to irreparable damage.
It’s possible that the destruction of Titan is the inciting incident for Season 11, and makes the conflict feel all the more real for players. LikeCayde-6’s deathset the tone for the Forsaken expansion, Titan’s destruction would certainly establish how strong/ruthless the Darkness is.
Titan Jumps to the Forefront
The other possibility is that Titan is getting a makeover and will be the centerpiece location for an upcoming piece ofDestiny 2content – either Season 11 orthe fall expansion. Giving the planet a refresh would likely add new items (like emblems) and thus it makes sense why the emblem has the timer and the gear does not.
Titan isn’t the most exciting location, so having it serve as the focal point for a Season might not win over a lot ofDestiny 2players that have grown disinterested with the game. However, if it follows something significant like the pyramid ships that could be enough.
Selfishly, it would be disappointing to see Titan disappear because of how easy it is to use the planet for farming. With short distances between the Public Event locations and theeasy access to Lost Sectors, Titan has offered a lot of memories. Granted, they are memories of repetition, but still.
