Players across the world are eagerly awaitingthe next generation Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card, along with the range of high and medium end cards that will form the product line-up. The latest in a long string of rumors suggests that gamers won’t have too long to wait for the premium RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3080 cards, but those looking towards the more wallet friendly RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 cards may have to be more patient.
The new rumor from Chinese site MyDrivers states that four Ampere based cards will launch in 2020.The RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3080 are said to be launching on 17th September, a date which matches other recent rumors. The RTX 3070 is then expected to launch in October, with the more mainstream RTX 3060 appearing in November.

Technology site Wccftech notes this is a similar launch schedule to the current generation RTX 20 Series cards, where the RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 2080 launched around a month before the RTX 2070, followed by the RTX 2060. Although it appears this time around, the lower-priced mainstream card will have less of a delay, with a one-month gap from the mid-range RTX 3070, rather than the three months gamers had to wait after the RTX 2070 launched.
Although most of the current information on the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 Series is based on rumors and leaks, a solid picture is appearing of just how powerful the range is likely to be. The high-end cards in particular are expected to have significant performance improvements over the current generation cards, as shown by leaked benchmarks for the RTX 3090 and RTX 3080, the former is believed to be the RTX 3080 Ti under a different name. The range is also expected to have significant power requirements, withthe RTX 3080 expected to draw 25% more powerthan the current generation RTX 2080 Ti.
Despite the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3080 generating the majority of the hype, most gamers will struggle to afford the premium prices that such powerful graphics cards command. So although the RTX 3070 and 3060 are less exciting from a benchmarking perspective, for most gamers these more budget friendly products will be how they access the power of the Ampere chips. If the rumors of a 50% overall performance increase versus the comparable RTX 20 Series products holds true for all Ampere based cards, these mid-range products will still pack an awful lot of punch.
Of course, gamers are yet to see how Nvidia will price the RTX 30 Series, orhow AMD will price its competing Navi 2X graphics cards. So it will be a few months at least before players can properly judge which option will provide the best value for money.
