During the latest Nintendo Direct event, Nintendo revealed that a brand newFire Emblemgame was in development, but it wasn’t something fans expected. Instead of a traditional, turn-based strategyFire Emblemgame, Nintendo announcedFire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes, a musou spin-off ofFire Emblem: Three Housesmade in the style of theDynasty Warriorsgames. Those wanting a traditionalFire Emblemexperience may have been disappointed by the news, but it seems that there is indeed a new main seriesFire Emblemgame on the way, if a reputable Nintendo insider is to be believed.

Nintendo insider Emily Rogers has claimed that Intelligent Systems has been working on a newFire Emblemgame. Rogers describes the game as a “wild card,” speculating that it will potentially release in October 2022 or early 2023. Rogers said that the game is “nearly finished with its development” and has been in the works for over three years atIntelligent Systemsand a support studio.

Rogers addressed the concern that Nintendo might not be willing to release twoFire Emblemgames in the same year, even if one is aDynasty Warriors-stylespin-off likeFire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes. Rogers pointed out that Nintendo has released twoFire Emblemgames in the same year before, like when it released the originalFire Emblem Warriorsin 2017 alongsideFire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.

Rogers said that it’s possible that Nintendo will think its fall 2022 lineup has enough content betweenXenoblade Chronicles 3andBayonetta 3and decide to move the newFire Emblemgame to early 2023 based on that. However, Rogers believes that it may be better for Nintendo’s sales if the newFire Emblemgame were paired withBayonetta 3, as she doesn’t think thatBayonetta 3can “carry an entire month on its own.” She added that therumoredMetroid Prime HDwould be another good game to pair withBayonetta 3ifFire Emblemis off the table.

Obviously fans should take this information with a grain of salt. Rogers has proven to be one of the most reliable Nintendo insiders and leakers there is, but it’s always best to wait for an official announcement before getting too excited about possible new game releases. That being said, Rogers is not the only one who’s claimed that anew main seriesFire Emblemgameis in the works, and so it wouldn’t be all that surprising to find out its real.
