What Are The Different Types Of Pacifista?
Vegapunk has developed several variants of the Pacifista since his first attempt at turning the former Warlord of the Sea, Bartholomew Kuma into a cyborg for the World Government. This endeavor culminatedin the complete erasure of Kuma’s personality, resulting in the mindless and soulless human weapon that is the PX-0, the original model in the series. All subsequent versions of the Pacifista, save for the Seraphim are cybernetic clones of Kuma and look identical to him in every respect, including their clothing which was replicated from Kuma’s own attire.
The only way to visually distinguish between the original body of Kuma and his clones is through the absence of the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi pads on his arms — which are unique to the Warlordas a result of his Devil Fruit abilities. Additionally, the Pacifistas possess Kuma’s voice but seldom speak apart from when they identify and target pirates through an electronic scope fitted into their bodies. Although they seemed virtually invincible in their first pre-timeskip appearance, most of the Straw Hat Pirates have overcome the difference in power in the years since.

Pacifistas primarily fight with the aid of lasers emitted from their palms and mouth, which were modeled on thePika Pika no Mi abilities of Admiral Kizaru. After the two-year time skip that followed the Summit War of Marineford, Sentomaru remarked that the Pacifistas that attacked the Straw Hat Pirates on the Sabaody Archipelago were only prototypes. On Egghead, there were two new types of Pacifistas introduced: the Mark III along with the Seraphim.
The Mark III Pacifistas have slightly different attire when compared to their predecessors. They can also weaponize a type of resin based on the secretion of Yarukiman Mangroves from the Sabaody Archipelago, to create bubbles that can absorb attacks or trap targets. On the other hand, the Seraphim are cybernetic clones of the original Seven Warlords of the Sea from the start ofOne Piece’snarrative, equipped with the durability granted by Lunarian DNA along with unique Devil Fruit powers through Green Blood, the product ofVegapunk’s research into recreating Parameciaabilities on Egghead.

The Pacifista’s Command Hierarchy
Each Pacifista model, including the Seraphim and even Kuma himself, are entirely subservient to the World Government and appear to have no real will of their own. If attacked by someone affiliated with the World Government, they will not respond or even defend themselves unless ordered to. They canidentify and target pirates on sightbut may be stopped from doing so if someone with sufficient authority directs them. When it comes to issuing orders to a Pacifista unit, there is a strict hierarchy of command that applies to each model — the Seraphim included.
At the lowest level are authority chip holdersincluding high-ranking Marines such asAdmiral Kizaru or Cipher Pol agents like Rob Lucci and Kaku. Above them is Sentomaru, followed by Vegapunk and his satellites. Finally, the highest degree of precedence is given to orders issued by the Five Elders, who can overrule orders given by anyone below them. This hierarchy may be vital in deciding the conflict on Egghead Island for a number of reasons, but the scenario has been complicated all the more by the arrival of Saint Jaygarcia Saturn.
Turning The Tide Of The Battle
WhenEgghead initially fell under siege, Sentomaru was able to repel the massive Marine fleet gathered on its shores with just the Mark III Pacifista and the Weaponized Sea Beasts on his side. It was only the arrival of Kizaru that changed this stalemate as he was able to incapacitate Sentomaru and regain control of the Pacifista. However, when Vegapunk and his satellite Atlas rushed down from the Labophase to save Jewelry Bonney, Atlas was able to overrule Kizaru’s command and issue new orders for the Pacifista to attack the Marines instead of the Straw Hat Pirates.
This effectively turned the flow of the battle in favor of the Straw Hat Pirates, who could now bank on the Marines and Kizaru being distracted by the combined force of the Pacifista and the Seraphim, as they made their escape. Earlier, the Straw Hat Pirates had some degree of difficulty fighting the Seraphim head-on, even with Rob Lucci and Kaku on their side. Hence, there is no doubt that the Marine Vice Admirals would find it hard to deal with the Seraphim in timeto prevent the Straw Hat Pirates' escape. Since Vegapunk far outranks most of the others on the island, his control over the Pacifista and Seraphim has not been threatened, but this might not last for too long.
Unfortunately, the arrival of Saint Jaygarcia Saturn on Eggheadalters the status quo completely, as he can retake control over the Pacifista by virtue of being higher up than Vegapunk in the command hierarchy. If he were to do so, there would be no one capable of overriding his commands unless he is killed or incapacitated. As a consequence of being heavily outnumbered, the Straw Hat Pirates must find a way to maintain control over the Pacifista, as they are the only thing keeping the rest of the Marine battalions at bay, which is why they could be a crucial factor in deciding the outcome of the Egghead Incident.
