ThePersonafranchise has undergone multiple iterations with their own unique style since the series started way back in 1996, and some games have drawn inspiration from the recently releasedPersona 5. The upcomingOne Piece OdysseyRPG is drawing some clear comparisons toPersona 5as its battle user interface shares a lot of similarities.

Details about the newOne PieceRPG continue to pour out as development gets closer to going gold, with multiple screenshots fromOdysseyshared to the game’s Japanese website giving small hints at what fans of the anime can expect. Although some screenshots are close-ups of prominentOne Piececharacters, the battle screenshots have garnered the attention of many fans, includingPersona 5players that have noted parallels between the battle UI inOdysseyand the latestPersonatitle. This UI is portrayed in two separate screenshots, with one seemingly focusing on a powerful boss and the other including two smaller enemies.

AOne Piece Odysseyimage shows Roronoa Zoro standing across from two unique-looking creatures from the popularShonen animein a circular battle arena with a tip menu showing that the character’s proximity to the enemies makes a difference in this RPG’s combat system. The menu on the right side shows several attacks that Zoro can choose between, while the opposite side draws the most comparisons toPersona 5as the characters in Zoro’s party are highlighted similar to Atlus' RPG. Zoro’s character portrait is filled in accordingly as the active party member, while Luffy is flushed red, Nami is orange, and Usopp is fittingly yellow.

Beyond the color scheme ofOne Piece Odyssey’s battle UI, the health and TP of each anime hero are reflected alongside their profiles in green and yellow respectively. TP reflects the additional attack resource theseOne Piece Odysseycharacters have as an alternative to mana or energy that may be used as a resource in other titles, or SP inPersona 5. In the middle of one of the battle screens is a smaller scroll menu that seemingly allows players to cycle through options like using items, selecting attacks, and more.

ThePersonafranchise has yet to makethe jump to Xbox, butOne Piece Odyssey’s battle system may offer similar combat if the UI is one of multiple resemblances the two games share. Moving around the battlefield seems more integral toOne Piece Odysseyencounters than inPersona 5, but it still reflects a turn-based RPG. Although the game has been teased for 2022 and development seems to be progressing accordingly, it’s currently unclear when exactly itwill be released. One Piece Odysseyis slated to release in 2022 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
