The time skip ofOne Piecesaw all the major characters in the story from the up-and-coming generation take the next step and get stronger. Fans sawthe Straw Hat Pirates train on their respective islandsto prepare for the perils of the New World and challenge the likes of the Yonko and the Navy Admirals. Others, such as Kid, and Urouge, headed out to the New World to face its challenge and get stronger.

As such, the time skip paved the way for the growth of nearly all the next-generation characters in the series and one such incident proved to be a major turning point in the career of two characters – Trafalgar Law of the Worst Generation and Koby of the Marines. This incident, called the Rocky Port Incident, is quite easily one of the biggest events that took place during the timeskip of the story.
What Happened At Rocky Port?
Rocky Port is most certainly an important place in theOne Pieceworld where this incident took place. It is believed that this incident was perpetrated bynone other than Trafalgar Law, one of the members of the Worst Generation. At this point, Law had a bounty of 200 million berries. He had already made quite a name for himself in the North Blue and was known as the Surgeon of Death. While Luffy trained with Rayleigh on Ruskaina, Law didn’t jump into the New World either. When asked by his crew, Law suggested that he had a big plan in his mind.
At this point, Law was laying down the strategy for the events that would later unfold in the Punk Hazard and Dressrosa arcs. The first plan for Law was toattain the title of Shichibukai. To do this, Law set in motion a major incident at Rocky Port which came to be known as the Rocky Port Incident. It is believed that the incident where Law stole a hundred pirate hearts and delivered them to the Navy is connected to this incident somehow. Thanks to this, he ended up becoming one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea and made a great name for himself.

As fans know, this was all a part of Law’s plan to promote himself to the status of Shichibukai and then, eventually, pave the way for the downfall of Donquixote Doflamingo. At Punk Hazard, Law joined hands with Luffy in an attempt to get Kaido to destroy Doflamingo for him. As such, the Rocky Port Incident eventually proved to be the trigger for all the major events that have been happening in the new world of the One Piece world since then.
Koby’s Role In Rocky Port
Law and certainly not the only one who shone during the Rocky Port incident. Another hero of this event was none other than Koby, one of Luffy’s Marine friends. Koby’s growth in the series has been rather slow. After joining the Navy, Garp, the Hero of the Marines, took him under his wing. Under Garp and Bogard, Koby trained relentlessly and ended up rising to the rank of Petty Officer. He had already mastered quite a few Secret Arts, such as the Rokushiki, by the time of the timeskip. While Koby was certainly making decent progress, he was still levels below Luffy.
During the time skip,it appears that Koby has made the jumpto the next level. He awoke to The color of Observation during the Marineford arc and has, since then, went on to master this power. During the Rocky Port incident, Koby showed his skills and became a hero by saving all the civilians involved in the incident. This led to him making a great name for himself as the hero of the Rocky Port incident. Furthermore, this could also have been a big factor in him being promoted to SWORD, a secret organization in the Navy the exact purpose for which is yet unknown.
Koby also ended up joining hands withnone other than Blackbeard, however, it is unknown whether this was on purpose or whether his work ended up helping Blackbeard anyway. It was revealed inOne Piece1059 that while Koby was on Rocky Boat, Blackbeard was also present there. Koby’s role in the Rocky Port Incident paved the way for Blackbeard to fight Wang Zhi, one of the former members of the Rocks Pirates. It is implied that Blackbeard ultimately ended up defeating him and, after, took his place as the ruler of the island. Ever since then, Blackbeard has taken control of the island and continues to rule it even today. InOne Piece1059, Blackbeard mentioned Koby’s role in the Rocky Port incident as quite convenient for him. Quite a lot of things about this incident remain unknown even today, however, Oda will most likely tackle them soon and fans will find out about the major events that unfolded during the day of the Rocky Port Incident.
