Online games always tend to have active, creative communities that put together fun projects, butOverwatch’s community stands above and apart. The latest example comes from Redditor Wanderyen, who shared a fun clip crossing overOverwatchwith Disney’sThe Incredibles. The short animated clip features a hand-drawn recreation of a scene fromThe Incredibleswith Wrecking Ball, Lucio, and Mei replacing the movie’s orb-shaped robot villain, Frozone, and Dash in an action-packed scene.
In Wanderyen’s animated clip, Hammond peeks out from his Wrecking Ball mech with a pair of goggles, spotting Lucio and Mei as his targets. Lucio is skating away from Wrecking Ball with Mei on his back, only to have anIndiana Jones-esque boulder sequence with Wrecking Ball rolling toward them in the background. Adorably, Mei is using her ice spray to create a path on the ground for Lucio to skate over. It’s a brief, 8-second animation, but is a quite clever mash-up.

For those unfamiliar withThe Incredibles, theOverwatchanimation is directly pulled from a sequence towards the end of the movie. The villain has released their evil robot on the city of Metroville and the family ofThe Incrediblesis fighting against it with their friend Frozone. This sequence is taken, perhaps even rotoscoped, from a scene where the robot is chasing after Frozone while he carriesIncrediblesson Dash on his back.
Wanderyen’s video clip is ultimately just a short, fun way to celebrate being a fan of bothThe IncrediblesandOverwatch. Unsurprisingly, the comments on the post are very appreciative of Wanderyen’s work, with many asking for more. Wanderyen even goes so far as saying that they’d be interested in drawingOverwatch’s Echoas the baby Jack Jack.
Looking at Wanderyen’s Reddit history, they’re both a talented artist and a dedicated gamer. They’ve shared multiple commissions of art made for various different games, including professional work for the MMORPGWing of Misadventure. There’s also a lot ofOverwatchart, including animated chibiOverwatchbuddies and a fan comic with Moira. They even shared one of their ownOverwatchgameplay clipsin which they punch the enemy team to death as Ana. Needless to say, they’re a fan.
Overwatch’s community is frequently creating exciting fan content for each other. Whether it’s a piece of Genji fan art that crosses over withStar Warsor aSteampunk version of Mercy, there always seems to be a new example ofOverwatchfans' creativity available week to week. It points to a promising future for the shooter, especially withOverwatch 2’s development continuing to move forward.
Overwatchis available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
