Elden Ringfeatures many mechanics first introduced in theDark Soulsgames. It follows the same blueprint in its level design and storytelling while building upon these systems. Even thoughElden Ringtakes place in a massive open world,Dark Soulsfans will feel right at home due to the many shared gameplay elements.

For example, bloodstains inElden Ringwork the same way as other FromSoftware titles. They mark another player’s death and touching one reveals a short animation of their final moments. This can be extremely helpful as it may alert users to hidden traps or enemies waiting to ambush. The player from the bloodstain appears as a red phantom, similar to how invaders look in the game, but can’t otherwise be interacted with. OneElden Ringfan makes it look like they have killed a red phantom after touching their bloodstain in a funny clip.

A user named Pizzawigg finds several bloodstains at a Site of Grace nearThe Academy of Raya Lucaria legacy dungeon. They activate one of the bloodstains, and it looks like they are following the player’s movement to see how they died. However, Pizzawigg jumps in the air and slams the ground to match the player’s death, making it look like they killed the red phantom. The video ends with the user taunting the dead player as the words “Get Rekt Loser” appear on the screen.

In the post’s title, Pizzawigg jokingly claims to have finally killedthe red phantom that was always lurking inElden Ring. It looks like Pizzawigg practiced this move to perfectly time their attack with the red phantom’s death. Some users wonder about the number of tries it took to successfully pull it off, and at first, Pizzawigg doesn’t seem keen on revealing this information. They later mention that it took around ten tries to time the move with the red phantom’s animation.

Many players go along with the joke, with some thanking Pizzawigg for finally killing the red phantom that has been following them all game. A player named Kawman02 states that this particular red phantom was a part of a secret quest that grants apowerfulElden Ringtalisman, allowing users to summon them in fights. Naturally, such a quest doesn’t exist, and kawman02 is just making fun of the mysterious nature ofElden Ring’s quests and how players can accidentally miss out on storylines if they kill NPCs.

Elden Ringis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
