An old photo detailing Nintendo’s very first headquarters building has been posted to the subreddit r/gaming by a user known as Entartika.Before Nintendo became the master of the art of video gamesthat many gamers know and love, the company found its home in a humble storefront in Kyoto, Japan. According to the post, the picture was taken in 1889, the very year Nintendo was founded. The former headquarters is shown in a faded black and white while showcasing a store sign that reveals the company’s original mission of selling playing cards.

Little did the meek storefront know that in one hundred years from the picture’s date, Nintendo would be on its way to becoming one of the most successful video game companies the world has ever seen.Now Nintendo is known for its great loreand incredibly fun gameplay that keeps creating die-hard fans of the company and the games it makes.
