With mega evolution absent from every core-seriesPokemongame for the past six years, it’s not surprising to see fans so excited over the confirmation ofmega Pokemon returning inPokemon Legends: Z-A, which is set to release at an as-yet unconfirmed point next year. The buzz surrounding the upcoming game since its announcement at the end of February has resulted in no end of community artwork and custom creature designs focusing on mega Pokemon and the Kalos region, with fans sharing mega designs featuring Pokemon ranging from legendaries such as Yveltal to the starter Pokemon of the Paldea region.
With such fanmade designs gathering plenty of attention on social media over the past few weeks, one artist known as ClSulli has created something a little different, designing a mega form for Shuckle. This adorable design was inspired largely bythe Pokemon Dudunsparce, in that it adds slightly to the appearance of its predecessor rather than totally overhauling its design, while also keeping it a little goofy. This Mega Shuckle design adds additional shell plating to various parts of the Pokemon’s body, such as the head and limbs, which closely resembles the body protection used by skaters. This Pokemon’s mega form is known to move at twice the speed of its regular counterpart thanks to its newfound skating abilities, while also boasting elevated defense stats.
The Next Pokemon Game is Already a Mysterious One
Although fans have been quick to share many of their owndesigns featuring all sorts of Pokemonthat they personally believe deserve mega forms in the future, it remains totally unknown which Pokemon will receive new mega evolutions inPokemon Legends: Z-A, or how many new megas fans should expect from the game. The reveal trailer forPokemon Legends: Z-Awas very slim on details, leaving plenty of room for fan speculation.
There are at least a handful of details that are known for certain when it comes to thenext installment of thePokemonseries, such as it taking place back in the Kalos region and focusing specifically on the renovation of its capital, Lumiose City. That said, the game’s enigmatic reveal barely answered any of the questions it presented. Fans are still unclear on whyPokemon Legends: Z-A’s peculiar title is what it is, when exactly it will be released, or even whether the game will take place in the past, present, or distant future.
