Known as the Cricket Pokemon, Kricketune first appeared inPokemon Diamond and Pearlalongside its base form Kricketot. Even though it is an unremarkable Bug-type Pokemon in terms of stats and moves, Kricketune’s distinct cry of “de-le-le wooooooop” has become a staple among Pokemon fans, and eventually grew into a meme. This meme about Kricketune and itsdistinct cry was referenced inPokemon Legends: Arceus, as the cry was spoken out by an Alpha Kricketune that players encountered during their travels in Hisui. Despite its popularity, Kricketune itself has a base stat total of 384, making it one of the weaker Bug-type Pokemon out there.
However, onePokemontrainer sought to give Kricketune a new evolution and a major buff in the process. On Reddit, a user named EliDwebster posted their latest creation they dubbed Kricketrello on the r/pokemon subreddit. Known for their previous workgiving new evolutions to Cacturneamong other Pokemon, the OP gave Kricketrello the Bug and Ghost dual-type and a few new abilities and moves to torment its foes with. Kricketrello’s body retained the red, instrumental motif of Kricketune, but gained some black-and-white coloration to its cello-shaped frame. It was also given a ghastly face with floating batons, horns, and a devilish mustache to fit its scary visage. Kricktrello’s name, according to the OP, was in line with the musical themes behind the Kricketot line. In this case, a trillo is an Italian musical term for a rapid sound vibration.
Theshiny form of this Pokemonswitched out the red tones in favor of purple, which gave it a more haunting look. In addition, Kricketrello was given the abilities of Swarm and Technician, and the OP created a new ability and new move specifically for Kricketrello. The move Requiem Knife would be used by Kricketune to evolve into Kricketrello, with the effect that sleeping Pokemon would take extra damage in exchange for being awoken. The Sharp Rhythm ability would turn all of Kricketrello’s slicing moves into sound-based ones, and cause a 15% chance to afflict the Sleep status condition.
