APokemonfan and artist has designed a variant of Feraligatr that turns the Generation 2 Water-type starter into a Normal-type Pokemon.Pokemonfans have been creating impressive art based on the franchise for over two decades now, with the Pokemon from the first two generations seemingly getting the most attention.

The Generation 2Pokemongames were released at the height of the initialPokemoncraze. Consisting ofPokemon Gold,Silver, and laterCrystal, the Generation 2 games introduced fans to theJohto regionand all the new Pokemon that inhabit it. WhilePokemon Gold and Silverintroduced a lot of new features and ideas to thePokemonfranchise, they also retained key elements of the previous games, like having players choose between three starter Pokemon: a Grass-type, a Fire-type, and a Water-type.

TheWater-type starter inPokemon Gold and Silveris Totodile, a crocodile-like Pokemon that evolves into Croconaw at level 18 and Feraligatr at level 30. Starter Pokemon often find themselves the subject of fan art more than other Pokemon in the series, and so it’s no surprise that fans have created all kinds of variants on the Totodile evolution line over the years. The latest one comes from Reddit user ShairusK, who created a Normal-type variant of Feraligatr.

The Normal-typeFeraligatrmaintains the general look of the Water-type Feraligatr, but with some key differences. Instead of being blue, yellow, and red, it has a predominantly brown and gray color scheme. Its feet and arms have been tweaked, and the red spikes have been completely removed and replaced with scaly-skin that looks like it belongs on a real-world crocodile or alligator. It’s an interesting-looking Pokemon that wouldn’t be out of place if it were added as an official regional variant for Feraligatr.

Of course, this is far from the first time that aPokemonfan has created a new look for Feraligatr. Not too long ago, another Reddit user designed an impressiveParadox form for Feraligatr, inspired by the Paradox Pokemon that were introduced inPokemon Scarlet and Violet.

While unlikely, it’s entirely possible that Feraligatr will eventually get an official makeover, either as a Paradox form or regional variant. Starter Pokemon have generally been untouched when it comes to these Pokemon redesigns, with the exception beingPokemon Legends: Arceus, which added new looks for the final forms of all three of its starter Pokemon. It’s unclear if anewPokemon Legendsgamewill be made, but if it ever happens and makes Totodile one of its starters, that would be the best chance for Feraligatr to get a redesign.
