Despite being over two decades old, thePokemonfranchise is still going strong. Many Pokemon have been added to the games over the years to bring the total to just over 900 creatures, with more coming later this year. While there are a number of newer pocket monsters for fans to love, theclassic 151 Pokemonare still held up as some of the best in the series.

One of thesePokemon is Gengar. One of the original Ghost-type pocket monsters, along with its pre-evolutions Gastly and Haunter, Gengar has held on as one of the most popular creatures that the franchise has produced. The Pokemon was given both a Mega Evolution and a unique Gigantamax form, and has been featured prominently in the series' numerous animated shows. Gengar has stood as inspiration for a number of art pieces that fans have made over the years, including a custom-made Game Boy Macro XL.

A Redditor going by the name Ds_macro_skull posted images of acustom Game Boy MacroXL that they made featuring Gengar, as well as its pre-evolution Haunter. The work features a black base with gray silhouettes of the two Pokemon along with a glowing LED bar at the top of the system.

For those who do not know, Game Boy Macro XL systems are modified DSi XL handhelds with the top half removed. This is usually done when the top half of the DSi breaks, allowing modders to salvage the still functional bottom portion of the device and turn them into working consoles.

Ds_macro_skull’s Game Boy Macro XL has earned a number of fans and has garnered over 4,000 upvotes. Many Reddit users think that the handheld looks cool, while a few mentioned that they would buy one. Many stated that they love the fact that Ds_marco_skull gotPokemonCrystalto run on the device, though many commenters questioned where the top half of the system went. The Game Boy Macro XL looks incredible and is a great way to repurpose a broken DSi.

This is not the only Gengar-themed Game Boy Macro XL that Ds_macro_skull has done. Themodder created a similar system featuring the Ghost-type Pokemon, though with a very different color scheme. The device has a white base with a black decal of the pocket monster’s silhouette covering the left side of the console. The handheld’s buttons were changed to be a deep purple while an LED bar was placed where the DSi’s hinge was originally. It is another beautiful custom-made Game Boy Macro XL and would be perfect for any fan of thePokemonseries.
