Although trainers may not be able to head out into the world and explore their communities in many parts of the world right now,Pokemon GOisn’t slowing down itsbarrage of 2020 events. The mobile AR game has done an incredible job of optimizing events for stay-at-home play and April has been jam-packed with a new constant stream of activities. The latest datamine suggests that won’t be slowing down and another big event is on the way.

Although there was no timeframe specified, the code suggests thatPokemon GOtrainers will soon be taking part in a Throwback Challenge. The upcoming event appears to be a series of activities designed to look back on all of the regions/generations that are already included in the mobile AR experience.

Assuming the datamined code is accurate and doesn’t change,Pokemon GO’sThrowback Challenge 2020 will put a spotlight on the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh regions. The event will likely feature increasedspawn rates specific to each regionfor certain windows of time to help players complete as much of those Pokedex sections as possible.

For more of a hint, here’s a closer look at the code that was uncovered in this week’s datamine:

Pokemon GOtrainers who like to speculate about the future could read into this as a hint that the era of the Sinnoh region could be coming to a close soon and the next generation may be closer than expected. Usually, before a new generation has been releasedPokemon GOplayers have always had an event that helped themcomplete as much of the prior gen’s Pokedex as possible. Although some players may still feel like they have a lot of catching up to do, the game’s most hardcore players are always itching for the next goal to chase down.

For now, players may want to keep hunting downthe best Unova Pokemon in the gameif improving their Battle Raid rosters is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for morePokemon GOstrategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
