Developer Game Freak released a two-part DLC forPokemon Scarlet and Violetnamed The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero to continue the trainer’s adventures after the end of the original games' storyline. ThePokemon Scarlet and VioletDLC introduced various new Pokemon, including two Paradox legendaries. The first part of this DLC, titled The Teal Mask, featuredLegendary Pokemon Ogerpon. The second part of the DLC, The Indigo Disk, starred Terapagos. Besides these two Legendary creatures, this two-part DLC marked the return of 230 creatures that appeared in previousPokemongames, a new dual-type Grass/Ghost Pokemon named Poltchageist, as well as evolutions for Applin and Duraludon.

Theepilogue ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLCintroduced one additional Pokemon: Pecharunt. This dual-type Poison/Ghost creature is the first Mythical Pokemon introduced since the release of Zarude, the Dark/Grass creature fromPokemon Sword and Shield. Pecharunt produces toxic mochi that it feeds its enemies, poisoning them and causing them to be confused. This unique ability explains the name ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s DLC epilogue title: Mochi Mayhem.
To unlock Pecharunt and have a chance of adding this Mythical Pokemon to their collection, players need to complete both the Teal Mask and Indigo Disk storylines toaccess the Mochi Mayhem epilogue. Once they have access to this part of the story, they will need a special berry to lure Pecharunt: the Mythical Pecha Berry. This item is available for free fromPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Mystery Gift feature.

Pecharunt was inspired by Momotaro, a popular hero of Japanese folklore. This hero, also known as Peach Boy, is said to be born from a giant peach and allied with a talking dog, a monkey, and a pheasant to defeat a band of demons. Pecharunt’s appearance is a reference to the peach Momotaro supposedly comes from, while theLegendary Pokemon fromPokemon Scarlet and Violet’s The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLCare inspired by Momotaro’s companions, which he recruited in the tale using dumplings resembling mochis. This new Mythical Pokemon and the tale which inspired its story should give new ideas to creative Pokemon enthusiasts who regularly share their alternative designs of pocket monsters on social media.
