Call of Duty: Modern WarfareandWarzonecontinue to be one of the best multiplayer FPS packages currently available, with fine-tuned multiplayer mechanics and a constant stream of new content coming out to keep loyal fans satisfied.Season 3 has been the best seasonby far in terms of new content, but there is no reason that Season 4 won’t surpass this one as well.

While there is still no official date for Season 4, Season 3’s battle pass is ending in just a couple of weeks on June 2nd. Season 4 may be delayed, but for now, it is pretty safe to assume that it will roll out right on time. That still gives players plenty of time to grind out some battle pass tiers, but it is by no means too early to start getting excited for all the new content that is to come.

EachCall of Duty: Modern Warfareseason brings a new cache of guns, operators, battle pass tiers, game modes, and more, all of which are plenty of reason for excitement. However, maps and playlists are arguably the most important additions to any season ofModern Warfare, since they may determine how fun the game is to play more than any other part of the experience.

Modern Warfare 3 Hardhat

Back in the beginning ofModern Warfare, there were relatively few small maps, and fans were not happy about it. Throughout multiple seasons, the addition of small maps like Shoot House, Shipment, Rust, and others has made the game much more fun to play, and small map playlists are always hugely popular with those looking to level up weapons and earn skins.

Previous Seasons' New Maps

There are variouschanges that could be made to balanceModern Warfare, but typically the best addition to any competitive multiplayer game is maps. With wide array of well-balanced maps, the game can stay fresh for hours at a time, rather than growing stale after tens of matches on the same few tired old landscapes. Meanwhile, even repetitive maps like Shipment are extremely important toModern Warfare, if only because they provide a place for players to quickly complete challenges needed to unlock skins, weapons, and grind out rewards like battle pass tiers. To predict what sorts of maps players can expect going into Season 4, it’s best to look at the maps that came out for previous seasons and look for patterns.

Originally, themaps that came with eachModern Warfareseasonseemed to be following a very distinct pattern: maps fromCall of Duty 4: Modern Warfarereleased with Season 1, and maps fromModern Warfare 2came out with Season 2. Fans expectedModern Warfare 3maps to drop with Season 3, but everyone was caught off guard when Talsik Backlot came back from the firstModern Warfaregame, and noMW3maps were in sight. That makes it a lot more difficult to predict what Season 4 will hold, but there are several maps present in the files that are more likely than others.

Each season ofModern Warfarealso saw the addition of brand new maps, and they have been some of the best in the game. Atlas Superstore and Hovec Sawmill may just be thebest maps inModern Warfarebecause of their fun, unique settings, perfect sizing, and general design quality. Remastered maps are fun for long-time fans, but often maps like Crash and even the iconic Rust aren’t able to live up to their legendary status when the nostalgia that surrounds them is dispelled by the cold, hard light of a remake. If the developer is able to keep putting out new maps with the quality that it has displayed in the past two seasons, the maps to really look forward to will likely be those that have never been seen before.

Predicting Modern Warfare Season 4’s New Maps

The first big map addition to look out for in Season 4 is the leakednew battle royale map, rumored to be set in Urzukstan. Another map forWarzonewould be a big hit and would do a lot to keep the already popular battle royale mode growing at an ever-increasing rate. It would be strange not to keep the ball rolling on battle royale. Given the hype behind the Urzukstan map leak, it will surely come sooner or later, but next season is the most likely timeline. It will probably drop later in Season 4 rather than on day one just because of how carefully the developers will need to implement it, but a day one drop or much longer delay are not out of the question either.

There will also surely be some added Gunfight maps, since Gunfight continues to be such a popular mode, unique toModern Warfare. However, what many players are hoping for is some new Ground War maps. Ground War is theBattlefield-like mode inModern Warfare, which may have been eclipsed by battle royale. Even so, just a couple new, good maps added to Ground War could breathe new life into a mode that has a lot of interesting potential. The current maps are fairly stagnant, and it is high time for a new addition that has learned from the shortcomings of the original maps.

At least one map will definitely return from a previousModern Warfaregame, but the question is which game and which map(s).Modern Warfare 3is a safe bet, since it was skipped in Season 3, at first, with just oneMW3map being addednear the end of the season. If aModern Warfare 3map is going to be included, it will probably be Oasis or Offshore, both of which have been leaked inModern Warfare’s files. That sort of leak is no guarantee though, seeing as the Vector was leaked since the first few weeks after the game’s launch and is still yet to be added.
