With the release of The Teal Mask DLC forPokemon Scarlet and Violet, trainers were taken to the land of Kitakami and had an encounter with the mysterious and misunderstood Ogerpon. Come Winter 2023,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers will turn their attention to The Indigo Disk, and pick up where the story of The Teal Mask left off. Once the DLC is out, trainers will visit Blueberry Academy and uncover the truth behindthe legendary Pokemon Terapagosand the Terastal phenomenon.
As rumors continue to swirl about The Indigo Disk DLC, includingrumors surrounding an evolution for Dipplin, the momentum surrounding it continues to build as well. However, with some important dates coming up, there are a couple of opportunities for The Pokemon Company to release The Indigo Disk within the given Winter 2023 window. Further, the timing of both these dates may be the perfect opportunity forPokemon Scarlet and Violetto strike while the iron is hot.
The First Anniversary of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Is Coming Soon
Though this date may fall out of the Winter 2023 window, an important anniversary in the ninth generation is fast approaching.Pokemon Scarlet and Violetwere released on Jun 10, 2025, and it is plausible that the game’s initial release window could be one of the starting points for The Indigo Disk to be released. Despite the myriad of bugs and game-breaking issues that continue to pop up in the games,Pokemontrainers continue to take part in Tera raid battles and competitive battles in Paldea, including Tera raid battles against legendary Pokemon such as Mewtwo and evolutions of past starter Pokemon such as Charizard and Decidueye.
With the DLC’s Blueberry Academy having a focus onPokemonbattles, as proven bythe leaked Pokedex of The Indigo Disk, The Pokemon Company has a chance to lean on the theme of competition during the release window of The Indigo Disk. But with November 18 falling on a Saturday, it seems less likely that The Indigo Disk would release during the weekend. As was the case with The Teal Mask, as well asPokemon Sword and Shield’s DLC, weekdays seem to be a favorite target for The Pokemon Company to release DLC. Between those factors and the fact that Black Friday is the weekend after the games' first anniversary, The Pokemon Company may opt to release The Indigo Disk in the days immediately before or after the anniversary. That leavesNovember 15 and 22 as plausible options. Alternatively, the developer may opt for a later window that lines up slightly better with its Winter 2023 window.
The Indigo Disk May Release The Week Before Winter Officially Begins
Though The Teal Mask was slated for a Fall 2023 release window, there was a slight but favorable contradiction with that window. The Teal Mask arrived withPokemon Scarlet and VioletPatch 2.0.1 on September 12, over a week before the start of fall on September 23. This technically meant that The Teal Mask was a late summer release by that logic. If similar logic is applied to the release of The Indigo Disk, the month of December is still in play. Considering that the release of The Teal Mask took place during the middle of the week, The Indigo Disk may follow suit in that regard.
With those factors in mind,Pokemon Scarlet and Violettrainers shouldkeep the week of December 13as the safest bet for when The Indigo Disk could be released. But on the other hand, ifPokemon Scarlet and Violetwant to cut it close by releasing The Indigo Disk in the first days of winter, the Winter Solstice begins on Friday, December 22 in Japan. Between the solstice, and the various December holidays observed globally, The Pokemon Company would have just over a week between the solstice and the new year to release The Indigo Disk. Needless to say, Pokemon trainers should keep an eye on social media for any updates concerning The Indigo Disk andany new or returning Pokemon that will arrivewith the DLC.
