TheRed Dead Redemption 2community is attempting to see just how chunky it’s able to make protagonist Arthur Morgan in the game. Players have to actually eat food to maintain a healthy weight inRed Dead Redemption 2, but some gamers are instead choosing to overfeed Arthur.
Red Dead Redemption 2’s Arthur Morganis one of the most beloved video game protagonists of all time, with Roger Clark providing gravitas and emotional heft to the performance. While the game had much to praise upon release, critics and fans alike heaped applause on Rockstar for creating such an emotionally complex character in the Western genre, where caricatures and cliche have often been rampant in the past. Because of this, many gamers have become attached to Arthur, and love to experiment playing as him in plenty of different ways.

It seems to be a new trend in theRed Dead Redemption 2community that some are partaking in. The first post by Redditor K-ghuleh pointed out how big players were able to make Arthur without the use of mods. The difficulty of the game’s survival mechanics means that most would never reach a point to see a chunkier Arthur, with plenty of players instead ending up underweight due to lack of food. Still, it’s great thatRed Dead Redemption 2allows for this level of roleplay, with gamers able to play Arthur in any way they want even without the use of mods.
The second post by Redditor Vigo_Von_Homburg shows a similar chunky Arthur, inside a barn with John Marston. It’s definitely a great bit of body positivity for Rockstar to include in the game. In the thread, some were comparing this version of Arthur to other fictional characters, with one user claiming he looks like Pearson fromRed Dead Redemption 2’s story.
With a sequel, Rockstar has a lot to live up to for its protagonist. Some feel thatRed Dead Redemption 3already has the perfect protagonistin characters from previous titles, however the eventual decision will not be taken lightly. The developer has already shown that lightning can strike twice, with many feeling John Marston from the original couldn’t be topped, only to be proven wrong. It seems that Rockstar will have a long time to decide regardless, with work onRed Dead Redemption 3not expected to start until after the release ofGTA 6.
Red Dead Redemption 2is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
