Even before it was officially announced towards the end of 2022, fans had been holding out for a remake of the iconicSilent Hill 2, and a recent update on Steam now shows that Bloober’s reimagining has gone from “TBA” to “Coming Soon.” For those who weren’t there when it came out, it’s hard to describe just how much of aninfluential survival horror gamethe original 2001 release was. WhileResident Evilis generally regarded as the king of the genre,Silent Hill, especially the sequel, was considerred by many to be a masterpiece in psychological terror.
Now that the remake ofSH2is finally on the way, players will be able to get to grips with a modern retelling of this classic horror title, although it’s still not known when it will actually be releasing. It was thought that the studio was close to finishing the project, butBloober Team recently addressed someSilent Hill 2rumors, which includes correcting a mistranslation regarding where the game is in terms of development. However, there has been a slight change on one front.

As reported by The Gamer, Twitter user AestheticGamer noticed that the Steam Page for the upcomingSilent Hill 2remake was updated recently. While it doesn’t give a concrete release date, the fact that it now says “Coming Soon” instead of “TBA” could very well be telling. It might mean that Konami is getting ready to make an announcement of some sort. However, there’s no way to know for sure until official parties involved in the game make a move. Maybe it’s nothing, but no doubt many fans will feel it’s one step closer to an actual launch window.
The fact thatSilent Hill 2has allegedly been in development since 2019means that Bloober may well have been working on the remake for around four years. This puts it in the sweet spot for many AAA games to be ready for release. However, readers should hold back on any potential excitement for now, as neither the developer nor publisher have said anything yet about what the change on the Steam page means.
In addition to the remake, brand-new entries in theSHseries, and a new film adaptation from director Christophe Gans, there’s also aSilent Hill 2figure of James Sunderlandthat’s coming soon. It’s strange to think that this series was dormant for so many years, with Kojima and del Toro’sP.T.being the most recent, and even that was cancelled. Now it seems as though horror fans can’t move without coming acrossSilent Hillin some form.
