Rumors have been swirling about Capcom’s nextResident Evilgame, whether it beResident Evil 8or something else entirely. The latest rumor comes from German game news outlet gamez.de, which corroborates past claims aboutResident Evil 8, as well as reveals new details about what fans may be able to expect from the rumored game.
Big points from the video were translated by Twitter user ChaoticClaire and then posted by horror news site RelyOnHorror. The video claims thatResident Evil 8has not restarted developmentas past rumors have claimed, and that the game is due for release within the next couple of years. It’s supposedly set in or around Eastern Europe, with a village and “snowy landscape.” There will apparently be a castle likeResident Evil 4, but smaller, and the game will lean into the medieval setting with its enemy designs.

For example, zombies will be wearing knight armor and have swords. TheResident Evilwerewolves, or better described as “wolf-like creatures,” will be in the game, along with the witch that was previously rumored.
Other details from the leak say thatResident Evil 8will have more action thanResident Evil 7, with it being compared to theRE7Not A Heroexpansionas an example. Players will take control ofResident Evil 7protagonist Ethan, though series mainstay Chris Redfield will also be in the game.
It’s noted that while Chris Redfield is inResident Evil 8, it’s with a “twist.” What this means exactly is unclear, however, previous reports have pointed toChris Redfield being redesignedfor the new game. It’s possible that the “twist” is just Chris’s new look, or it’s possible that there is something else going on with the fan favorite character. It seems those curious will have to wait to find out more.
While some fans may be excited about this news, we must stress that it’s important to take all of this information with a grain of salt. No evidence has been provided to back up these claims, and so it’s hard to say if there’s any truth to it. There are some common threads between all theResident Evil 8leaks, like the wolf-like enemies and the witches, though, so it seems likely that there issomethingto this. Hopefully we learn more sooner rather than later so fans can stop speculating about what to expect from the new game.
Resident Evil 8is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
