It’s common knowledge thatResident Evil 8’s Lady Dimitrescu garnered so much attention before the game’s release that she basically served as the game’s face and mascot. Although the elegant Countess is beautiful in her human form, there is a much more monstrous side that lies beneath the surface.

By the end of Ethan’s stay in the castle, Countess Alcina Dimitrescu transforms into a terrifying monster that acts as the level’s last boss. However, in the flurry of bullets being fired and constantly running from one place to another in search of shelter, it can be easy to miss a few details aboutLady Dimitrescu’s last dancewith Ethan Winters. Here are some of themost interesting details some players may have missed inResident Evil 8’s Lady D.’s mutated boss battle.
7Her Signature Claws Do Not Make An Appearance
Throughout most ofEthan’s stay at Castle Dimitrescu, he’s constantly terrorized by Lady D. herself, being chased around from room to room. One of Lady D.’s favorite means of attacking is utilizing her terrifyingWolverine-like claws that expand to several feet, allowing her to attack from far range.
Although she is constantly seen using these razor-sharp claws in her human form, they never really show up during her boss fight when she is fully mutated; in fact, mutated Lady D. doesn’t have her human hands at all.

It makes players wonder exactly how her mutation works. Perhaps the Lady D. players saw during the boss battle isn’t her “true self” but simply what she was forced to transform into due to the toxins on the blade she was stabbed with.
6She Resembles A Cross Between A Dragon & A Human On A Pegasus
Fans are clearly already well-acquainted with the large, human form of Lady Dimitrescu. However, her final form during her boss battle is not really a model that players can really get a good look at. This version of Lady D. is constantly flying around the map, zooming around, or causing the camera to shake.
For any fans that haven’t gotten the chance to get a good look at her, the heavily mutated Lady D. has been compared to a mix of a human riding aPegasus-like creature and a dragon; keeping up withRE8’s theme of popular mythical creatures (such as vampires and werewolves). Many of her human features are lost in this transformation as she is left with no hair, no moveable human limbs, and even seems to have shed her human skin in place of a veiny mushy mess.

The creature she is a part of (but appears to be riding) has multiple mouths and rows of teeth, along with a terrifying hand-like tongue. It also has large wings and sprouting tentacle-like appendages.
5Ethan Never Gets The Dagger Of Death’s Flowers Back
No matter how courageous and resilient Ethan is, he was not able to rid of Lady Dimitrescu on his own due to her mutations from the Cadou. The Cadou infection Lady D. received from Mother Miranda allowed her to possess regenerative abilities and would not yield to just anyslash from a knife or bullet from a gun.

In the end, Ethan needed the help of the Dagger Of Death’s Flowers, which is a key item in the game that was said to be doused in various kinds of toxins and would be the key to Lady D.’s ultimate demise. A single stab from this dagger was enough to force Lady D. into a full mutation, who knows what kind of power the dagger would have against other enemies; especially the other Lords?
Unfortunately, after Ethan’s little spill where he drops the dagger, he never gets the opportunity to find and retrieve it again.

4There Is A Glimpse Of Her Half-Transformed
After stabbing Lady D. with the Dagger Of Death’s Flowers, she begins her forced mutation due to the poisons/toxins imbued in the dagger’s blade. For a second, after a furious Lady D. throws Ethan against the wall, the player can catch a glimpse of the Countessmidway through her transformation.
In this “halfway form”, Lady D. isn’t a complete monster just yet. She is seen convulsing a bit before sprouting veiny, dragon-like wings from her sides while maintaining her human form. Which one of these versions of her is hertrueform is a question players may still be curious about to this day.

3She Doesn’t Mind The Cold
Although beautiful vampire ladies Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela are all referred to as Lady D.’s daughters, they aren’t actually related by blood. Lady D.‘sbeloved vampire daughterswere birthed via a project using the Cadou parasite. Although both Lady D. and her daughters were both humans that came into contact with the Cadou, they have vastly different abilities and weaknesses.

Lady D.’s mutation largely centers around her regenerative abilities and her need to feast on blood to maintain them. However, Bela, Cassandra, and Daniela are all essentially reanimated corpses comprised of hoards of bugs. Because of their composition, they undergo cryobiosis in low temperatures, therefore stopping their metabolism and leaving them susceptible to any damage Ethan deals.
However, Ethan wasn’t as lucky when facing Lady D. as her entire boss fight happens outside the castle in the cold, and yet she clearly didn’t mind the low temperatures at all.

2She Loses The Guise Of Her Youthful Facade
During her boss fight, Lady D. is constantly flying around the castle, making use of her massive dragon-like wings. It’s not easy to get a good hard look at her face; at least the one sitting on top of the multi-mouthed creature she appears to be riding.
One of the most notable abilities Lady D. is known for gaining after being infected with the Cadou is her ability to maintain her youthful appearance. Originally, Lady Alcina Dimitrescu was born years ago, sometime before 1914; with the help of the Cadou, her aging process was halted sometime around her 40s. In order to keep her youthful facade and regenerative abilities, she needed to constantly feast on the blood and flesh of human beings.
However, during her forced mutation caused by the Dagger Of Death’s Flowers toxins, it seems as if her human skin and flesh are almost “melted” away, leaving acorpse-like decay of pale muscles and tendonson her face and body. Perhaps without the Cadou’s interference, this is what the real Alcina Dimitrescu would have looked like today!
1Her Boss Fight Is The End Of The Entire Dimitrescu Bloodline
After ridding the last of Lady D.’s three vampire daughters, she furiously delivers a line at a fleeing Ethan about “doing in the entire Dimitrescu bloodline”. While it wasn’t 100% true at the time (with Lady D. herself as the sole survivor at that point), it definitely is by the time Ethan leaves Castle Dimitrescu.
After finally killing Lady D. and putting an end to her reign of terror that began all the way back in the 1910s, Ethan had finally ended the Countess’ bloodline once and for all.
Sorry to any Lady D. fans that wanted tosee more of her in upcoming games!
