Activision typically reveals the nextCall of Dutygame in May or June each year, and so the announcement forCall of Duty 2020should be any day now. A specific reveal date forCall of Duty 2020, rumored to be titledCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, has yet to be announced, but a prominentCall of Dutyfranchise leaker has teased that it could very well be taking place at Sony’s upcoming PlayStation 5 game showcase.

Sony has announced that it will be revealing a slew of PS5 games on Thursday, June 4 at 1:00pm PT in a special presentation that will focus on games that will be available for PS5 at launch or within the launch window. Tom Henderson, a frequentCall of Dutyseries leaker, has suggested that theCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warreveal could be taking place at the event.

This would make sense for a couple of reasons. For one, the reveal ofCall of Duty 2020would drum up significant attention for thePS5 game showcase, even more than it is already getting, as theCall of Dutygames are pretty consistently the top-selling games each year. And secondly, Sony already has a partnership with Activision when it comes toCall of Duty, with the PS4 enjoying timed-exclusivity forCall of Dutycontent.

Assuming the partnership betweenActivisionand Sony will continue into the next-generation, it makes sense that the PS5 game reveal event on June 4 would be used to properly announceCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. This partnership has proved controversial, though, so there will no doubt be some fans on PC and Xbox upset to see it continue on PlayStation 5.

Regardless of whenCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waris announced, it will be interesting to see if any of the rumors about the game turn out to be true. For the uninitiated,Black Ops Cold Waris said to be a reboot ofTreyarch’sBlack Opssub-series, and it will include some fan favorite multiplayer maps from the originalBlack Opsgame as a result, like Firing Range and Nuketown.

Even ifBlack Ops Cold Warisn’t announced at the PS5 game reveal event on June 4, an announcement is still likely to happen within the next month, so fans shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to find out if theleakedBlack Ops Cold Warmultiplayer mapsare accurate or not.
