Scarlet Nexusis an action JRPG developed by Bandai Namco. Italso received its own anime adaptation of the same title, prior to thesuccessfulCyberpunk: Edgerunners. Within the game, players assume the role of one of the two playable characters -Yuito Sumeragi or Kasane Randall.

These characters are members of the Other Suppression Force (OSF) who are tasked to defend and protect their planet from enemies known as Others.The OSF membersthat the player will get to know all have unique abilities needed to defeat enemies. They can be accessed through SAS, a brain communication that allows the use of different abilities for a limited time. Others, a name that highlights how these beings are otherworldly, come in many terrifying shapes and sizes. While there are several groups of enemies with unique powers and crazy names, these examples stand out.
10Yawn (Group)
This group of Others consists of the Brawn Yawn, Grin Yawn, Spawn Yawn, and Vine Yawn. The Spawn Yawn operates a little differently from the rest. It hates to have anything behind it, as the organ on its back is a weak point. It turns as soon as the player gets behind it, so being fast is required. Getting around with Arashi Springs' Hypervelocity and Kagero Donnes' Invisibility is effective.
The other Yawn types also have unique characteristics. Vine Yawn can copy itself, Grin Yawn can spit fire, and Brawn Yawn crawls through the ground and leaps out with a powerful attack. All the Yawns have an Alligator-like snout that it bites and attacks with.
9Pound (Group)
This group of Others consists of the Missin Pound, Cushion Pound, and Session Pound. Mission Pound will spit out a smoke screen to obscure the player’s field of vision and attack by spitting fire projectiles from a distance. If the player uses Tsugimis' Clairvoyance, they can nullify the smoke screen to attack it. The Cushion Pound also shoots fire projectiles but will spin to hit the player with its hard shell if they get up close.

The Session Pound is three-headed and sings. When prey - the player - gets near, the song it sings is a countdown to its self-destruction and will blow the player up with it. The song can’t be stopped once it has started, however, the damage from the explosion can be endured. Using invisibility or teleportation is advised.
8Rut (Group)
This group includes the Rat Rut, Cut Rut, and Shut Rut. All of these Ruts are characterized by their hard exterior shells. The Rat Rut stores oil inside its wheel-shaped body and sprays oil. The organ within its shell is the weak point, so using Psychokinesis or Duplication is effective for breaking its shell. Very similar to the Rat Rut, the Cut Rut Stores Water in its shell. It sprays water from above and is protected by its hard exterior. Water and Oil dampens the player and slows them down, so it’s best to avoid it.
The Shut Rut has a cage-like exterior that can be broken by powerful attacks, however, they can retreat and regenerate their shell. They fire projectiles that confuse the player, making them move in random directions. These projectiles also confuse themselves. When they get close, they think they have already captured the player, so the interior will fill with explosive gas for self-destruction.
7Santa (Group)
This group comprises the Barrista Santa, Saliva Santa, and Sparta Santa. The Barrista Santa throws objects with its tentacle-like organs, which are tough and will strike the player directly. Using Clairvoyance, discerning the path of thrown objects can help conquer the Other. Psychokinesis can be used to throw objects right back at it.
Saliva Santa, as its name suggests, spits and soaks the player with saliva. As it hides in its box shell, using abilities such as Hypervelocity or Teleportation is needed to get close enough to attack. Sparta Santa, on the other hand, can duplicate itself. Using Clairvoyance to see which is the duplicate and which one is real is key to winning the battle.
6Sabbat (Group)
This group consists of the Wither Sabbat, Auger Sabbat, and Booger Sabbat. These Others take on a bull/horse/deer appearance, which is fitting for their attack style. They all charge towards the player with powerful headbutts, stronger than that of any regular earth mammal. The Wither Sabbats' attack has a long windup, but its damage is powerful. The charges must be dodged for the player to make it to the weak point on its back.

The Auger Sabbat is assisted by the sharp pointed shell on its head. Using Sclerokinesis to enhance the players' strength, they can approach the Auger Sabbat and break its shell. The Booger Sabbat flings mushrooms from its head that confuses the player with spores. Its nose becomes exposed when it flings the mushroom spores, so using Teleportation or Hypervelocity will help get close before the effect takes hold.
5Chinery (Group)
This group of Others consists of the Winery Chinery, Slippy Chinery, and Juttie Chinery. The Winery Chinery sprays a fluid to soak the area, then unleashes electric projectiles to electrocute all within that space who get soaked. Its weak points are the legs, so using Invisibility or Hypervelocity to quickly attack it before it can spray and electrocute is key.
Slippy Chinery oozes oil, and it can change the color of it to blend in with the surroundings. This can be combated by using Clairvoyance to see it better. Since It’s covered in oil, the player can also use Pyrokinesis to set it on fire. To defeat the Juttie Chinery, the player must break its outer shell to reach its weak interior.
4Gunkin (Group)
This group consists of two significant Others known as Gunkin Perry and Gunkin Fisher. Gunkin Perry stores oil in its tank-like organs and is extremely aggressive. It can jump high using its six legs and can come crashing down on the player. From afar, it will throw its oil as a projectile, which hinders movement and makes the player flammable. It is, however, vulnerable to its own oil. If the player breaks the tank and spills the oil on it, they can set it ablaze

Gunkin Fisher also stores oil in its tank-like organs. It attacks by spraying from a distance. It can climb the walls and ceiling when it feels threatened and tries to counter the players ranged attacks from above. One surefire way players can defeat it, just like the Gunkin Perry, is to cover it in oil and set it on fire.
3Coil Moil (Boss)
This Other boss has two states - ice and water. Coil Moil is extremely dangerous and has minimal data collected on it in the game. Using Pyrokinesis is the most effective way to attack it, as the player wants to melt its ice down to water. Next, Electrokinesis is key to electrocuting it during its water form.
Coil Moil attacks the surrounding area with water pillars, which double as its protection. Its weak point is on its back, so the player must maneuver the water pillars to get to it. It ischallenging to runaround it to attack the weak point. Using Teleportation or Velocity to reach the weak point is imperative for success.
2Cort Mort (Boss)
Cort Mort is one of the largest Others the player will experience by the end of the game. While fans cannot kill it, it still poses a danger. This boss contains several Others within its body and can control them to attack all at once. It can send several Others out of itself and destroy large structures.
This boss fight, however, is different from the rest. The player must run and evade all oncoming attacks from Cort Mort. Using Gemma Garrisons' Sclerokinesis, the enhanced strength is key to enduring the combined attacks it lashes out.
1Dominus Circus (Boss)
Dominus Circus is arguably the most fun andunique boss fightin the game. This major Other is extraordinarily dangerous as it has incredible strength. It has multiple forms that the player must beat throughout the fight. The different forms have a shield in the right arm, a sword in the left arm, and a helmet on its head.
It can protect itself by spraying water or creating walls of water for blocking. The shockwave from its swing is immense and needs to be dodged. In one of its forms, it creates a smoke screen and sprays oil. This boss fight is the ultimate test of whether players have mastered all thenine SAS abilities.
