There have been several rumored characters who may be added toMortal Kombat 11, but with rumors and leaks often unreliable, there’s one good reason that the rumors may be squashed or confirmed this month.

Fans have been waiting for a new Kombat Pack since the last one released, and with many hints coming fromMKdirector Ed Boon on who may be added toMortal Kombat 11, October will likely be the month for fans to see whether their predictions were correct.

MK11 Leaks

In August 2020, Twitter user “thetiny,” who is known as a reliable source forupcomingMortal Kombatcontent, leaked information which indicated that 19 DLC characters would be coming to the game’s roster of fighters. The leak itself didn’t indicate who these fighters would be, with the file names not indicated the character’s names but just listing them by number.

However, Raiden VA Richard Epcar revealed in aMortal KombatInstagram Q&A thatBruce Campbell will be voicing oneMortal Kombatcharacter, and that Ash Williams from theEvil Deadseries would be an available fighter.Rambo was also included in theMortal Kombatleaks, but chances are, the entire thing wouldn’t be horror-based, just most of it. Michael Myers from theHalloweenmovie series andBatman’s Harley Quinn have also been included in the leaks, however, which lends more credence to the idea of an October release.

Not only that, butEd Boon has been teasing fans that Mileena, a fan-favorite character from previous games, could be added to the latest installment soon. Mileena first appeared inMortal Kombat 2as a twisted clone of Kitani created in Shang Tsung’s flesh pits, while in theEvil Deadseries, Bruce Campbell’s Ash Williams fights Deadites, creatures who have been turned into monsters by an ancient demon. Between Mileena, Ash fromEvil Dead, and the other horror-themed characters, the new characters could be a very terrifying bunch.

Halloween - October 2020

This makes it likely that the DLC will be revealed some time this October to take advantage of the Halloween season as a marketing move. It is unlikely that both Boon and Epcar would hint so heavily at these two characters being just around the corner if the studio was going to release a 19 new DLC characters and not include them, after all. With these two’s remarks standing out, it is likely that theMortal KombatDLCwill be marketed and released as a horror-themed Halloween-esque package.

If the DLC is not released in October, however, this could make it more likely that the characters are being held for a future installment of the series which can launch on its own steam instead of taking advantage of the holiday to draw fans back toMortal Kombat 11. Ultimately, October will likely indicate the future of the DLC characters one way or another, though with Ed Boon’s penchant for trolling fans about upcoming DLC characters it’s also possible thatMortal Kombat’s Mileenawill not be included in the same package as Ash, which could dilute the add-on’s potential as a horror-themed DLC.

Mortal Kombat 11has also released a new horror skin pack for different characters in the build up to Halloween. TheAll Hallow’s Eve packincludes new skins for a wolf-man Johnny Cage and a creepy nurse version of D’Vorah, so it’s also possible that developer NetherRealm won’t release two Halloween-themed DLCs in one month. However, the upcoming holiday does make confirmation on the new characters one way or another seem more likely.

Mortal Kombat 11is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, Switch, and Xbox One.
