SinceSpider-Man: No Way Hometickets first went on sale, there were very strong indicators that the film’s opening weekend numbers were going to be quite impressive. Now it looks as if the film’s early numbers could be the best MCU opening weekend sinceAvengers: Endgame, which means it would also be the biggest opening weekend for a movie post-COVID-19 pandemic.
Spider-Man: Now Way Homeis also the first of the MCU movies that seems tomove the plot along sinceAvengers:Endgame. WhileBlack Widowwas technically the first film tied to the Avengers to launch after the end of Phase 3, it was a kind of prequel and also hit theaters in the middle of the pandemic, greatly depressing audience turnout. Tom Holland’s latest superhero flick is expected to dwarf Scarlett Johansson’s standalone film.

Box Office Pro recently released its latest projections for several different movies that are opening in December and the site made it clear thatSpider-Man: No Way Homeis going to be the undisputed king of the box office with numbers that could hit $200 million. While the site did say that would be the top number if it managed to get that much in its opening weekend, it does believe there’s almost no chance it won’t at least top $100 million, making it the best opening weekend since the pandemic started. The analysts for the site also believe that a strong opening is going to be followed up by a healthy dose of viewership throughout its domestic box office run.Spider-Man: No Way Homecould make as muchas $690 million in domestic dollars, though there is a bit of a caveat there.
The analysts do caution that this film is going to be the first big test for in-theater-only films in the current climate. Because of that, there’s a chance it could significantly underperform projections.Spider-Man: No Way Homeis the test casefor something other than whether or not people are ready to go back to the theaters. The film is the first live-action movie to really dive into the MCU’s version of the multi-verse, and it won’t be the last.
At the very least, thisSpider-Manfilm is laying the groundwork forDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessand the idea that numerous versions of the same character could appear on screen at the same time. The critical and audience reaction to whatSpider-Man:No Way Homeoffers in its story could help steer where the MCU goes in the next few years.
Spider-Man: No Way Homepremieres in theaters on August 08, 2025.
