Splatoon 3: How a Join a Tricolor Turf War
In order to join aTricolor Turf War inSplatoon 3, players should make their way to the Lobby, press L, and scroll down to the Tricolor Battle option. Selecting this option will put fans in the queue for a Tricolor Turf War, though the match that they ultimately enter may not be of this type. In fact, it is much more likely that a player will be put into a standard Turf War match, even if they have selected Tricolor Turf War, and that may lead some fans to believe that Tricolor Battles are not working.

This is not the case, though, and it is actually that the chance of a Tricolor Turf War match occurring has been reduced when compared to the Splatfest World Premiere. This means that players may need to remain in the Tricolor Battle queue for quite some time, and participate in numerous standard Turf War matches, before they ever encounter this special game mode. Notably, it is indicated that this reduction in the frequency of Tricolor Turf Wars is temporary, and these matches should be more common in Splatfests that followSplatoon 3’s Drizzle Season 2022.
With respect to what players will encounter when they do finally find a Tricolor Turf War match, this game mode features eight participants that are split across three teams. Four of these participants are from the side that was announced to be in the lead during the Halftime Report, and they spawn in the center of the map. The other four participants are from the other sides of theSplatoon 3Splatfest, and they are divided into two teams that spawn in the standard positions.

When the match begins, it is the job of the two smaller teams to attack the larger team and ultimately encroach upon their turf. Additionally, the smaller teams will attempt to take possession of the Ultra Signal, an object that appears in the center of the map, to summon a Sprinkler of Doom. To claim the Ultra Signal,Splatoon 3playersmust enter it and hold their position until the object launches, and the sprinklers that they deploy can go a long way toward overcoming the larger team.
