The originalS.T.A.L.K.E.R.game delighted fans with its first-person shooter and survival horror mechanics, but the franchise went quiet after 2009.  Many will remember the game which is set in an alternative aftermath of Chernobyl with warm nostalgia, and there is now evidence of a newS.T.A.L.K.E.R.title from developer GSC Game World. In a Facebook post, the developer of the franchise detailed the legacy of the original game and revealed the first screenshot of a sequel.

There have beenplenty of rumors about howS.T.A.L.K.E.R.would returnand many will be pleased with the prospect of an entirely new sequel. Protagonists previously had unique goals within the game, and it will be interesting to see how this concept can be elevated more than a decade on from the original game and how new features will build on fondly remembered aspects. The statement from GSC certainly suggests an ambitious sequel.

The Facebook post prepares fans for more content to come as well as promising a game that “will live to the legendary legacy.” How the game will do this is still very unclear and with only one image available, a release date may be far away.
