Ever since Disney handed theStar Warsvideo game license to EA, fans have been waiting forStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3. Unfortunately, such a game has never materialized, and it seems EA has no interest in revisiting the critically-acclaimed RPG series. However, a new report indicates that whileKnights of the Old Republic 3may not be on the way, fans may have aKnights of the Old Republicremake or reboot to look forward to instead.
According to Cinelinx, citing two unnamed sources, a newStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republicgame is in active development. One source has said that it’s a straightKnights of the Old Republicremake, whereas the other has said that it’s something a little different. According to the second source, the game will feature elements from both the originalKnights of the Old RepublicandKnights of the Old Republic 2 - The Sith Lordsto bring “certain things” into the currentStar Warscanon. This would make the game a reboot instead of a remake.

Before fans get too excited about the possibility of aKnights of the Old Republicremake, they should consider the source of the information. No concrete evidence has been provided to back up the claims, so fans should certainly keep their expectations in check. However, Cinelinx has been correct aboutStar Warsleaks in the past, so it’s still possible that aKnights of the Old Republicremake is genuinely in the works.
Regardless of what form the supposedKnights of the Old Republicremake takes, it would be nice for fans to be able to experience the story with updated visuals, especially since parts of it have already been confirmed to be canon. While it’s possible toplayKnights of the Old Republicon Xbox Oneand mobile devices, other modern platforms are missing out, and there are certain things about the game that haven’t exactly aged well.
And while some fans may be more interested in aKnights of the Old Republic 3gameinstead of aKOTOR 1remake, one has to imagine that its potential success would open the door for a proper sequel. Fans will just have to wait for a confirmation of the game’s existence and go from there.
In the meantime, fans may be able to get moreKOTORcontent in other media. Last week, reports surfaced that aKOTORmovie and TV showwere in active development at Disney, though nothing official has been announced to date.
