The trailer itself is full of in-game cinematic footage from the upcoming story, revolving around the Empire and the Republic’s battle over Manaan and its reserves of kolto, a medicinal liquid and a precursor to the bacta of modernStar Wars.SWTORshowed off scenes from a massive starship battle, sieges, standoffs, and challenges from theupcoming Elom flashpoint inLegacy of the Sith. The trailer is narrated by Darth Malgus, who performs an incredible monologue deriding the “dishonorable tyrants” of the Sith and the “councils of fools” that are the Jedi, all while speaking to the true nature of power.

ThoughLegacy of the Sithwas originally planned to release on December 15forSWTOR’s10-year anniversary, BioWare was forced to delay the expansion by two months. It cited fine-tuning as the cause of the delay, but many believeFinal Fantasy 14’s Endwalkerexpansion release right before its own may have played a factor in the decision as well.

Players were hyped up to see theLegacy of the Sithstory trailer. Fans are eager to dive back into the conflict between the Republic and the Sith, though many continue to wonder if they will have the chance to join Darth Malgus. The popular Sith Lord has made a lot of valid points since he went rogue early on in theSWTORstory, and his most recent monologue has made many wish for the chance to join his renegade faction even more than they already did.

However, someSWTORfans are not charmed byLegacy of the Sith.SWTORis currently in one of its longest content droughts thanks to the ongoing pandemic and other challenges, and players have not had a new story patch in nearly a year, with the last being in April 2021. They are not enthusiastic about the idea of completing the new story, only to have a new daily zone and a single flashpoint to occupy them for another half of a year. The Old Republicsupposedly has plans for ten years of content, but players will have to see if the game is able to overcome the struggles of an older MMO during a global pandemic faced with fierce competition.

Star Wars: The Old Republicis available for PC.Legacy of the Sithlaunches on February 15.
