Corbett expressed that there is ‘unfinished business’ with Nika Futterman, the voice behind Ventress. Ventress, known for her skills as a dual-lightsaber-wieldingSith assassin under Count Dooku’s command, had her story take unexpected turns in the past, left incomplete due to the show’s cancellation. Now, Corbett suggests they have the opportunity to delve further into Ventress’s narrative.

“Ventress is one of our all-time favorite characters,” shares executive producer Brad Rau. “So, when Dave brought up the idea of bringing her intoThe Bad Batch, we were beyond excited.” Although Ventress’s story did not end on screen but rather inStar Wars: Dark Disciple, a novel adapted from unused scripts ofThe Clone Wars, executive producers Corbett and Rau, along with series creator Dave Filoni, had a different vision.

In theStar Wars: The Bad BatchSeason 3 trailer, there was a hint that Ventress was alive, teasing her potential return to the series. However, it was not until the latest episode, “The Harbinger,” that she finally made an appearance. Despite this, the episode did not provide any explanation regardinghow Ventress managed to survive. Corbett elaborated on ongoing discussions about how to further develop Ventress’s narrative. She confirmed Ventress’s involvement in future projects, assuring fans that her survival will be addressed in due time, confirming the potential spin-off. Additionally, Corbett hinted at exploring Ventress’s connections, notably with none other than Omega.

Reflecting on Ventress’s last appearance in the franchise, Futterman shared with Starwars.com: “I thought we had gotten to a place in her story where it was going to continue on in this really interesting way. […] I just thought, now that she’s going to be a bounty hunter, there’s just a world of possibility that she could be anything and do anything and become anything.” It has been a decade since then, marking the conclusion of Ventress’s storyline in the fifth season ofClone Wars, her role shiftingfrom Sith assassin to a bounty hunterwho eventually aids Ahsoka Tano. Recently, Futterman received an exhilarating email from Lucasfilm, inviting her back to voice Ventress now inStar Wars: The Bad Batch. “It was really surprising and very exciting,” she remarked. “She’s fun, interesting, and multi-layered. She’s all these things that I wanted to continue on doing. So, of course, I was like, ‘Yeah, baby! What is next?’”
