NewStardew Valleyplayers may find an item calledMixed Seedswhen clearing the debris from their farm at the start of the game. Additionally, players new and old will find Mixed Seeds frequently, from a variety of sources, over the course of a game.

What Are Mixed Seeds?
It’s not immediately clear what will grow from Mixed Seeds, but their title actually gives it away: a mix of things! Specifically, a handful of different crops will grow from them, depending on where and when they are planted.
When planted in Spring, Summer, or Fall on the player’s main farm, they’ll grow into one of the corresponding season’s crops. When planted on Ginger Island, there is a different set of crops that Mixed Seeds can grow into. And, of course, like everything else inStardew Valley,Winter has its own rules.
Mixed Seeds will basically convert into a crop’s specific seeds, taking on all of its typical qualities. It’s almost as if it were never a Mixed Seeds seed at all, for all intents and purposes. Crops that continue to produce will do so,quality levels work the same way, and each plant will take the normal amount of time to grow and reproduce. Additionally, they must be watered as normal or they will not grow.
Now, let’s look at what will grow from Mixed Seeds, based on season and location.
Spring Mixed Seeds
When planted in the Spring, Mixed Seeds can grow into one of the following crops:
These cropswill have the same qualities as if they were planted from their own specific seeds. Potato plants can drop multiple Potatoes when harvested, Cauliflower plants, if arranged properly, can grow intoGiant Crops, and so on.
Summer Mixed Seeds
Mixed Seeds that are planted in the Summer can result in any of the four crops:
Again,these cropshave all their normal qualities. Wheat must be harvested with a Scythe and can drop Hay when harvested, Corn can continue to produce through the Fall, and Hot Peppers will regrow every three days.
Fall Mixed Seeds
In the Fall, Mixed Seeds can once again result in one of four different crops:
TheseFall cropshave the same qualities they typically do. Corn and Eggplants can keep producing and Pumpkins can turn into Giant Crops if arranged in a 3x3 grid.
Interestingly, Artichoke Seeds are only available starting in Year 2, so Mixed Seeds (and a little luck) can result in having Artichokes in Year 1.
Winter Mixed Seeds
Mixed Seeds, like all crop seeds, work a little different in Winter. First of all, they can only be grownin the Greenhouseor a Garden Pot, since crops will not grow outside in the wintry weather. Furthermore, Winter does not have any of its own crops. So, then, what will Mixed Seeds grow into in the Winter? Simple: any of the crops from Spring, Summer, or Fall that they can grow into!
In summary, Mixed Seeds plantedinsidein the Winter will grow into the following crops:
This can be a great way to get out-of-season crops, but of course, it can’t be controlled what they’ll grow into. However, it is an option.
Ginger Island Mixed Seeds
Crop growth seasons worka little differently on Ginger Island. That is, anything will grow year-round and seasons are irrelevant. Spring, Summer, and Fall crops can all be grown right next to each other outside.
However, instead of Mixed Seeds growing into any of the above crops like in Winter, Ginger Island has its own set of potential produce. On Ginger Island, Mixed Seeds can grow into:
Melons will still be able to grow into Giant Crops andPineapplesand Blueberries will continuously reproduce. Rhubarb Seeds are typically only sold at theTraveling Cartor the Desert Oasis, so this can be a way around purchasing them at those locations, if that should ever be a concern.
Note: It doesn’t matter where Mixed Seeds were obtained — all that matters is where and when they are planted. Mixed Seeds found on the mainland will still grow into one of these four crops when planted on Ginger Island, and Mixed Seeds found on Ginger Island will still grow into the crops in the above sections when planted on the player’s main farm.
