At DC FanDome,Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leaguereceived a long-awaited trailer detailing more of the game. It doesn’t dive much deeper into the story than fans have been able to piece together so far, but it does put a lot of emphasis on the ticking bomb that’s in the Suicide Squad’s heads. It also shows off severalmembers of the Justice League, appearing to confirm all the major “antagonists” players will face.
Shots of the Hall of Justice can be seen in theSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leaguetrailer, showcasing five statues corresponding with the Justice League. This lines up with the known members so far: Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and Batman (seemingly). Batman, at the very least, has some teases in the new trailer that suggest he’ll play some role—likely finally resolving thesecret ending inBatman: Arkham Knight.

However, this skips over one member of the Justice League who should appear inSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice League; otherwise, it sort of makes the hero-to-villain relationships a bit lopsided.
Essentially, outside the formation of Task Force X, each member of the Suicide Squad has a documented history against one or more members of the Justice League. That doesn’t make the fights against other heroes less worthwhile, but it makes some of them more interesting. For example, it’s no clearer than it is with Harley Quinn and Batman. As Joker’s girlfriend-turned-her-own villain, Harley Quinn has had a lot of run-ins with Bats, and it makes his potential return even more interesting to see how he goes up against Harley givenJoker’s fate in the Arkhamverse.
Deadshot is traditionally depicted as a villain of Batman too, but he has some history with Superman as well. He’s not his most common foe or anything like that, and Superman likely serves as this big overarching threat to the group as a whole, but it lines up well enough. Meanwhile, The Flash and Captain Boomerang certainly have history, and their relationship in-game will likely reflect that.
This leaves Green Lantern and Wonder Woman no real connection to the other members of Task Force X, other than their opposition as The Justice League. The game may be more cognizant of this than fans are currently aware though.Wonder Woman is not under Brainiac’s control inSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, for example, and while Green Lantern is, the game may do something more interesting with the character. But all of this leaves out King Shark.
ForKing Sharkto have a good antagonist pairing in the game, it would really need to feature Aquaman. Not only is King Shark part of his rogues gallery, but he’s a founding member of The Justice League. Metropolis, even before being destroyed, has plenty of water landmarks and such to depict Aquaman accurately, so it’s a bit of a headscratcher.
An epic fight betweenKing Shark and Aquaman would be fitting forSuicide Squad: Kill The Justice Leagueand would play into more of King Shark’s element. But, while Aquaman could still appear and the Hall of Justice statues could be incomplete/old/have one hidden, it doesn’t seem likely. Until more is revealed, it seems King Shark and Aquaman are getting the short end of the stick in this regard.
