The recentSuper Mario Bros. WonderDirect unveiled six new enemies players will encounter throughout Mario’s journey in the Flower Kingdom. Mario’s long-awaited return to 2D platformers has already seen plenty of major reveals about some of the new content players can expect from the game. The new Wonder Effects cause a variety of wacky and unexpected changes to the game’s stages, with new power-ups like the Bubble and Drill alsogiving Mario access to unique movement and abilities. The recent broadcast also highlights several of the new creatures Mario will find within the game.

Super Mario Bros. Wonderlooks to be a return to form for 2DMarioplatformers after nearly a decade-long absence from the genre. Many fans have already praisedWonder’s unique art style and the creativity with several of its new elements, especially the variety of effects caused by Wonder Flowers.Wonderwill also see the return of local co-op play allowing up to four players to join in the fun, with new online features like live player shadows and friend races. Now, Nintendo is teasing some new enemies Mario will face in the Flower Kingdom.

Super Mario Bros. Wonderwill be bringing a wealth of new enemies to the 2D adventure, showcasingsome of Mario’s new foesin the recent Direct. The broadcast showed off several enemies with unique movements patterns, like Hoppycats jumping when Mario jumps and Condarts flying at Mario and becoming lodged in the stage. Some ofWonder’s enemies will feature new takes on classic enemies with the Melon Piranha Plants spitting seeds and Konks acting like Thwomps that can slam through in-game goo. Mumsies require player to unravel their body while Maw-Maws will eat players who get too close.

Alongside the multiple new enemies shown forSuper Mario Bros. Wonder, the newest Direct would also confirm severalfranchise staples returning toSuper Mario Bros. Wonder. Nintendo confirmed iconic enemies like the Goombas, Koopa Troopas, Boos, and Lakitus will be returning inSuper Mario Bros. Wonder, hinting at other iconic creatures. The trailer also teased several other new enemies coming withWonder, including flying creatures that eat platforms and a Hammer Bros-like enemy pushing a block.

Super Mario Bros. Wondercomes as just one of several highly-anticipatedMariotitles releasing in the near future. Nintendo has revealed that the belovedSuper Mario RPGwill finally receive a remake, scheduled to launch in November. The developer also confirmed the3DS-exclusiveLuigi’s Mansion: Dark Moonwill also be remastered on Switch, expected to debut sometime in 2024.Super Mario Bros.
