Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Fighters Pass DLC has brought a plethora of unique additions to the popular fighting game’s massive roster. The two volumes of the newestSuper Smash Bros.game’s DLC has brought a mix of first-party Nintendo characters likeFire Emblem: Three Houses' Bylethand third-party characters likeDragon Quest’s Hero. The expansion pass has even seen highly-requested characters likeKingdom Hearts’Sora join the fight. However, one of the most unexpected introductions toSuper Smash Bros. came early in Vol. 2 with the reveal ofMinecraft’s Steve and Alex.

Steve and Alex were officially unveiled as new DLC coming toSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatein October 2020 with theMinecraftcharacters featuring plenty of references to the popular sandbox game. As with the rest ofSuper Smash Bros.Ultimate’s roster, Steve and Alex were confirmed to be receiving Amiibos based on their designs in the future. While Nintendo had originally planned theMinecraftAmiibos for a Spring 2022 launch, it had announced a delay in their production earlier this year. Now, Nintendo has officially revealed the new release date for the Steve and Alex Amiibos.

A tweet posted by Nintendo on Thursday officially revealed the new launch date for the upcoming Steve and Alex figures. The tweet reveals the new Amiibos are now set to release on September 9th, with the previous delay cited as being related to “logistics and production.” A video alongside the announcement shows off the two figures with each character in their default pose. The Steve and Alex Amiibos mark the second release fromUltimate’s second Fighters Passwith characters like Sora and Sephiroth still to come.

Steve and Alex make up just a few of a massive roster of third-party characters to joinSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. The game’s launch cast featured the return of popular characters likeMetal Gear Solid’s Snake andFinal Fantasy 7’s Cloud. Later DLC characters introduced franchises likePersona,Fatal Fury, andTekkeninto theSuper Smash Bros.universe. The game’s two Fighters Pass DLC packs introduced more than ten characters to the game,pushingSuper Smash Bros.Ultimate’s final rostercount to a staggering 82 characters.

WhileSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateremains one of the most popular games on the Switch, Nintendo has yet to reveal any information about a potential successor.Super Smash Bros.creator Masahiro Sakurai had previously stated in December thatNintendo was not planning a newSmash Bros.at that time. While Sakurai was open to the idea of returning toSuper Smash Bros., he did admit that the scale ofSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatewould be difficult to follow up. While a newSmash Bros.may not be in the works yet,Ultimatecontinues to be a fan-favorite among Switch owners.
