Yesterday Nintendo announced a specialSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatepresentation for the new DLC fighter, Terry Bogard. At the time, Nintendo confirmed that a release date for the Terry Bogard DLC would be announced during the presentation. Nintendo followed through and, much toSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateplayers' delight, released the Terry Bogard DLC during the 45-minute presentation.Super Smash Bros. Ultimateplayers can purchase and download Terry Bogard right now.
The 45-minute presentation ended up being somewhat of a red herring forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateplayers. Fans went in expecting a Nintendo Direct-style show, concise and informative while focusing entirely on the DLC character. While the presentation did end up being very informative, it definitely wasn’t concise. Instead,Super Smash Bros. Ultimategame director Masahiro Sakurai gave an in-depth lecture on the Neo Geo console, theFatal Furyfranchise, andTerry Bogard’s origins.

Alongside Terry Bogard comes a range of other content. First, there’s the King of Fighters stadium, an all-new stage forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. There are even some friendly King of Fighter faces in the background of the map, including Geese Howard and many others. Notably,Mai Shiranui has been left out, likely due to age concerns. There’s also an incredible amount of music fromFatal FuryandThe King of Fightersthat has been brought into Super Smash Bros. Ultimate with Terry Bogard.
It took over six minutes, but Terry Bogard as aSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatecharacter does become the presentation’s focus. Sakurai deliberately goes through each of Terry Bogard’s moves, while also explaining how his moves are inspired by pastFatal FuryandThe King of Fightersgames. Whether it be Terry Bogard’s Crack Shoot, Burning Knuckle, or his Power Wave, these abilities are all well-known to those familiar with Terry Bogard’s past.
Terry Bogard will be the fourthSuper Smash Bros. UltimateDLC fighter released as part of the game’s Fighter Pass. Before Terry Bogard camePersona 5’s Joker,Dragon Quest’s Hero, andBanjo-Kazooie’s, well, Banjo and Kazooie. Thefifth DLC fighter forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatehas yet to be announced, though rumors continue to swirl. It could beFortnite’s Jonesy orNinja Gaiden’s Ryu Hyabusa, or any number of other possible fighters. Anyone is a possibility at this point.
