Some majorSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatenews came in the form of the new DLC fighter announced at The Game Awards 2020. The arrival of Sephiroth fromFinal Fantasy 7makes him the secondFinal Fantasycharacter to be featured inSuper Smash Bros.outside of Cloud Strife. Though, according to Nintendo, Sephiroth’s announcement is only the tip of the iceberg.
As is the case with very nearly every new DLC character announced forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, the announcement is typically followed by a gameplay presentation hosted byMasahiro Sakurai, the creator and director ofSuper Smash Bros.Luckily forSuper Smash Bros.fans, the date for Sephiroth’s gameplay presentation has already been announced by Nintendo.

Over on Twitter, Nintendo revealed that the gameplay presentation forSephirothwill happen on December 17th 2:00 P.M. PT/ 5:00 P.M. ET. The gameplay presentation will once again be hosted by Masahiro Sakurai, where he will also unveil the release date for the DLC character. This should definitely give a lot of fans something extra to look forward to after everything that was announced at the Game Awards.

However, for the longest time, Cloud was the only character to giveFinal Fantasyany sort of presence inSuper Smash Bros,which led to a number ofFinal Fantasycharacter requests from fans.Although, as of tonight, that has certainly changed in a major way.
The arrival ofSephiroth as a DLC character inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatehas impacted the gaming community immensely in the span of a few hours. What was shown off in the reveal trailer was just enough to get people excited, but surely there will be a lot more to unpack in terms of his character in regards to gameplay mechanics. The reveal trailer alone shows Sephiroth to be a promising and dynamic character for players to utilize.
It will be interesting to see how Sephiroth will play once the gameplay presentation arrives. Of the many characters unveiled for thesecond fighters pass DLC forSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate, many of them have been incredibly unique. FromBanjo-Kazooieto Steve fromMinecraft, the line-up of characters for the second fighters pass continues to grow more extensively. Hopefully, the arrival of Sephiroth will be everything that players have been expecting from his character and more.
