Capcom’s E3 2021 presentation revealed exciting new details about several of the publisher’s upcoming games. Titles includingResident Evil VillageandMonster Hunter Risewere showcased, among others. Prominent among them is Capcom’s upcoming compilationThe Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, which localizes twoAce Attorneygames that had previously been exclusive to Japan. The new gameplay trailer focused on several ofThe Great Ace Attorney Chronicles' new features.

To start, Capcom detailed how investigations will work inThe Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. Partnering withLondon’s ace detective Herlock Sholmesgrants the player some interesting new tools. In the Dance of Deduction, players will comb through suspicious situations keying in on objects and details of note. After Sholmes breaks down the “logic” of a given situation, the player is forced to correct them with evidence and corrections that ramps into a dance towards the truth.

The example of the Dance of Deduction shown inCapcom’s E3 presentationoffers up a great representation of theAce Attorneyfranchise’s humor. Herlock Sholmes and the player encounter a bearded figure which Sholmes accuses of being a “revolutionary on the run!” The player is then able to analyze the bearded figure’s outfit, revealing it to be a costume. It’s no revolutionary at all, but rather ballerina Nikolina Pavlova. The reason she’s on the run waits for another puzzle, however.

The franchise’s iconicAce Attorneycourt gameplayhas also been revamped inThe Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. Rather than working to persuade a single judge in court, a jury of peers now stands before the player. As part of the new Summation Examination feature, players will take statements from the jurors regarding their verdicts and can then correct any flaws by pointing out contradictions between the statements. It’s not so unlike finding flaws in witness testimony, only with statements spread across multiple characters from the jury.

Players worried that this new jury system might mean the traditionalAce Attorneyback and forth between player and prosecutor is removed can rest easy. The Great Ace Attorney Chroniclesis still full ofshouts of “Objection!” and over-the-top animations as the opposing prosecutor’s case is meticulously taken apart piece by piece.

WithThe Great Ace Attorney Chroniclesreleasing July 27, Capcom’s ramping up its information sharing. With two full games included in the compilation, that’s a lot of exciting gameplay to introduce. Expect to hear more over the next month.

The Great Ace Attorney Chroniclesreleases July 27 on PC, PS4, and Switch.
